General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, August 12, reveals that Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) faked an emergency to help Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) while Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) suggested a DNA test for Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) – though Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) deemed it unnecessary.
At GH, Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Kruse) suggested that his feelings for Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) meant he could be trusted to guard Oz Haggerty’s (Max Faugno) room.
Jordan needed to know Rory could put his badge first, but Rory didn’t see why he had to choose between his badge and compassion.
Later, Portia approached Oz’s room and acted like she wanted to check on his progress, but Rory couldn’t let her in since she wasn’t on the list.
Rory then called Jordan to let her know he turned Portia away, so she was grateful he notified her.
Trina quizzed TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) and realized there was a way to wake Oz up sooner, but he explained it was too risky and that Portia had stopped him.
Although Trina praised Portia for her decision, she picked up on her mom’s strange behavior.
Portia claimed she had to deal with a patient and told Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) to keep Trina busy while she tried again with Oz.
After Rory’s call and a chat with TJ, Jordan witnessed Portia’s odd behavior for herself and finally put it together what was happening.
It dawned on Jordan that Portia needed access to Oz’s room so she could wake him up before the verdict was revealed.
That way, Oz could hopefully confirm Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) bought the black-market phone instead of Trina.
Jordan thought back to Rory’s comment about balancing the badge and compassion, so she pulled the emergency lever in the elevator.
Another officer approached Rory to pull him away since they assumed someone was trapped inside.
That left an unguarded room, so Portia snuck in and approached Oz with a syringe full of the reversal drug to awaken him.
At Charlie’s Pub, Britt checked out Scott’s bruised nose and questioned whether Cody might be making up the story about his biological mother.
Scott struggled to understand why Dominique Stanton (Shell Danielson) wouldn’t have told him about her firstborn son, but Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) acted like maybe he didn’t know her as well as he thought.
Britt suggested a DNA test, but Scott saw Dominique in Cody’s eyes along with the same hunger for the meaning of life.
After Scott decided he had to ask what Dominique would want him to do, he gave Liesl a peck and left.
At the PCPD, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) admitted he couldn’t get Cody out of this jam since he punched a hotshot lawyer in front of a crowd.
Cody’s only regret was that he couldn’t get more punches in, but Dante wondered if he was really mad at Scott or his mom.
GH viewers heard the story of how Cody didn’t know the truth until recently.
The woman Cody believed to be his mother was dying, so he faced her deathbed confession and learned he was actually Dominique’s son.
By then, Dominique was gone and had left Scott her fortune, which went to Serena Baldwin (Carly Schroeder) and had been spent on saving the whales.
Scott showed up and confessed he thought Cody was the “real McCoy,” so he was dropping the charges.
Although Dominique didn’t reveal anything about Cody, Scott assumed she must’ve had her reasons.
Cody found it hard to believe Scott didn’t know about his existence, but Dante thought Scott seemed genuinely in the dark.
