General Hospital Spoilers reveal Laura Collins (Genie Francis) is a woman built on quite a rocky foundation. Her formidable nature can fool many, but Laura has withstood more than most women ever do, and fans are expecting to see the traumas of her past shine through when she learns what her son has been up to on Spoon Island.
Viewers are hoping GH writers get it right this time, as Laura’s personal history overlaps well with the current storyline involving Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) holding Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) hostage in the north tower at Wyndemere.
General Hospital Spoilers — Laura’s Past Still Haunts Her
Years ago, a younger Laura experienced a much similar event, and despite how she feels about the things Esme has done, she won’t be able to forget what was done to her in the name of someone else’s agenda.
Once upon a time, Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) held Laura captive much the same way.
Helena wasn’t merely trying to hide Laura from the world or keep her as her own personal doll.
Much like Nikolas, his grandmother, Helena, had her own motives, and they were as sinister as they come.
GH Spoilers Hint the Similarities are Striking
While Helena was holding Laura against her own will, she allowed her son, Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly) to rape Laura — over and over again until he got her pregnant.
The product of that dark time in Laura’s life was one of her greatest blessings, her son, Nikolas.
This serves as a great testament to Laura’s amazing ability to make lemonade out of life’s most sour lemons.
With Nikolas holding Esme hostage while she is already pregnant, this should bring up uncomfortable feelings for Laura.
Will she liken her own son to the man who raped her all those years ago?
General Hospital Spoilers — Will Laura Put a Stop to It?
Should Laura find out about what Nikolas and Elizabeth are up to while they’re still holding Esme captive, she may be inclined to blow the whole thing to bits.
After all, she is the Mayor of Port Charles, and that leaves her obligated to report any crime even more so than it would an average citizen.
Whether or not she will turn her cheek to her son and Liz’s criminal affairs is beside the point.
Even if Laura doesn’t learn of what Nik did until Esme has gone free — or worse, she shouldn’t be able to look past it easily without struggling to separate Nikolas from his father.
Do you think GH writers will keep Laura true to her character’s past, or will they gloss over this trauma and continue to pretend it never happened?
