General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) deserves a better man with no secrets. Austin Gatlin-Holt’s (Roger Howarth) lies are unfair after all the Peter August (Wes Ramsey) misery that Maxie’s been forced to endure, so let’s talk about her messy love life.
To be fair, Maxie already had the perfect man when she was with Nathan West (Ryan Paevey).
Nathan and Maxie were an excellent match, but his tragic death cut their love story short.
It’s going to be tough for Maxie to ever recreate that kind of magic, but she at least deserves better than the treatment she’s been getting.
Maxie spent far too long tied to Peter, who put on a good guy act while secretly being a full-blown monster.
Austin seems decent at his core, but he could end up triggering some negative memories for Maxie with his behavior.
Maxie no doubt has some lingering trauma after being stuck in such a horrible situation with Peter, the ultimate liar.
It’s not the best idea for Austin to be acting shady and keeping things from Maxie, which is exactly what he’s doing.
Austin stepped away from the campfire fun in the woods to confront someone from his past.
Since Austin warned this person away from Maxie and her family, it’s clear that Austin considers him a threat in some way.
Isn’t that something Maxie should be aware of? Even if there’s no physical danger, Maxie needs to know what’s up if it might affect her.
Besides, Maxie should be with someone who can share every part of himself – and Austin clearly isn’t that guy yet.
There’s room for Austin to grow and change, but he’d better hurry up!
Maxie isn’t going to like it when she discovers this secretive side of Austin, though he’ll inevitably try to explain and perhaps argue that he wanted to keep her out of the drama.
There’s been some speculation that Austin was interacting with his brother in the woods, but he previously spoke almost sweetly about his sibling, who’s on the autism spectrum.
Austin acted protective of his brother early on, so the mystery person may be someone else.
Of course, there’s a chance that Austin’s father, Jimmy Lee Holt (last played by Steve Bond), isn’t really dead.
Austin talked about still feeling like his dad was there with him – the same dad who knew every inch of those Pautuck woods.
Whether Austin was interacting with a family member or someone else, he’s lying to Maxie and that’s not OK.
Austin shouldn’t be keeping secrets that could put his relationship on fragile ground, but he’s doing it anyway.
