General Hospital Spoilers: Tuesday, January 4 Recap – Victor Behind Luke’s Cable Car Crash, Calls Off Laura's Murder

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, January 4, reveals that Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) was behind Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) cable car crash in Austria – and Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) cried murder when she heard the news of Luke’s supposed accident.

At Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis) place, Laura woke Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) up from a nightmare on the sofa.

Tracy felt like it was the worst kind – the kind where you wake up and it’s real. She couldn’t believe Luke was really gone and recalled how his remains had been identified following a cable car crash in Austria.

Tracy felt responsible since she could’ve asked Luke not to go. Instead, Tracy snapped at Luke for chasing some scam and said horrible things she can never take back.

Laura did her best to comfort Tracy, who decided she needed to be with her family right now.

Once Laura was alone with Kevin, he acknowledged her history with Luke and let her know her understood her grief.

Laura cried and worried about what she’d tell Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) once she was awake, but Kevin felt they had plenty of time to figure that out.

At GH, Bobbie stopped Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) from trying to visit Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and mentioned that Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) had been there.

Valentin wasn’t pleased about that, but he soon turned his attention to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn). Alexis admitted to almost drinking before someone managed to come through with good advice.

At the Metro Court, Ava Cassadine (Maura West) and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) walked in to find Victor at the sitting area.

Ava suggested they should make nice since Victor had leverage, so they joined Victor for a cordial chat.

Nikolas flipped when he saw Victor’s copy of The Invader, which had a story about a major crisis at Cassadine Industries.

Nik was appalled over the article acting like he was responsible, but Shawn appeared and reminded Nikolas of the saying “the buck stops here.”

Shawn taunted Nikolas a bit about making his new vision for The Invader possible through his nonprofit donation.

In a moment alone, Victor suggested he could arrange for Shawn to take a long walk off a short pier if need be, but Nikolas declined.

Even so, Victor stirred up more suspicions with talk about the wings of change and something that was brewing for the Cassadine family.

Kevin joined the gang soon after to fill Nikolas in on Luke’s death and suggest that he should pay his mother a visit.

As for Victor, he made comments about Luke going out in such a trivial way. Later, Victor received a call from a blocked number.

Victor spoke to someone on the phone about the hit on Laura being dropped now that Luke had been neutralized. Victor thought it was time to proceed with phase two.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Drew came home and faced Monica Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) New Year’s Eve questioned.

Monica was hopeful about Drew and Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) reunion, but Drew made it clear they were just co-parents and that was enough.

Drew spoke of some unsettled business he needed to take care of and mentioned wanting to talk to Peter.

Drew needed a way to get rid of his conditioning for good, but Monica knew Peter wouldn’t be helpful and advised Drew to be careful since she’d already lost one son to Peter.

When Drew bumped into Valentin at GH, Valentin also offered a warning. He didn’t think it was wise to visit Peter, who was treacherous on a good day and especially desperate right now.

If there was a chance Peter could activate Drew’s conditioning, Valentin suggested he shouldn’t risk it by going near him.

Talk turned to ELQ and a power play that Ned had hinted to Drew about. Valentin thought the situation was simple since he controlled Drew’s voting stock.

After Bobbie arrived at Laura’s place, she got updates on Luke’s death and refused to believe it at first.

Bobbie made a sad phone call to Luke’s number and left a voicemail telling him to call Barbara Jean back this instant!

Bobbie broke down in tears as Laura pushed her to accept the truth, but Bobbie refused to believe this was an accident.

Bobbie argued that someone wanted Luke killed, but Laura acted like Bobbie was searching for someone to blame.

In their room, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) compared notes to determine they had nowhere else to be for the day.

They talked about the past and how Portia had no regrets since everything brought them to this moment.

Curtis admitted he was falling in love with Portia, though he didn’t expect her to say it back.

Portia cut Curtis off to admit she was falling in love with him, too. They both looked forward to a fresh start in the new year.

At Alexis’ place, Shawn came over with a special delivery of The Invader.

Now that Shawn was settling into running it, he needed a second in command to help carry out his vision. Shawn stunned Alexis by suggesting she was the person he had in mind.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) was excited over plans to make his adoption of Leo Falconeri (Easton Rocket Sweda) official.

Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) also confirmed that their marriage was back on track, so Ned kissed her passionately and hoped to renew their vows.

Tracy showed up soon after with the bad news about Luke.

Tracy poured herself a drink and went along with Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Amanda Setton) suggestion about a wake for all Luke’s loved ones to get together.

Brook Lynn also cared for “Bailey Quartermaine” aka Louise August (London and Jett Prinzo-Berendt) and shared some cute scenes with.

Once they were alone, Tracy pushed Brook Lynn for the truth about why she was still pretending that baby was hers.

General Hospital spoilers say Brook Lynn will have some explaining to do, but she’ll try to avoid tipping Tracy off to the real story!
