General Hospital Spoilers: Wednesday, February 23 Recap – Anna Lets Peter Die, Lies About Ambulance – Sasha Back On Drugs

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, February 23, reveals that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) let Peter August (Wes Ramsey) die and lied about calling an ambulance. Sasha Gilmore (temporarily played by Helena Mattsson) also decided to go back on drugs, so let’s discuss all Wednesday’s pivotal choices.

At GH, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) arrived with Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and overheard Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) suggesting he couldn’t live with himself if something happened to Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) because of him.

Brook Lynn acted like this was indeed Austin’s fault, but Chase and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) brought the focus back to staying hopeful about Maxie.

Austin admitted that the only thing that mattered was Maxie being found safe.

In Switzerland, Maxie was unsure whether Peter was dead or not.

After Maxie grabbed the gun, she handed it to Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) before Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) showed up along with Anna.

Drew checked and determined that Peter was alive, but he was barely breathing.

Anna said she would call an ambulance and stepped away while Peter regained consciousness.

Peter called out to Maxie, who rejected the idea of giving Peter any sympathy.

Drew also had some cold words about Peter having nobody left to care about him.

After Anna returned and sent everyone else away while she awaited the ambulance, Peter realized there was no ambulance coming at all.

Peter suggested Anna was a killer, but she thought that was a matter of perspective.

Anna admitted she told the WSB that Peter had been apprehended, but she added that the area wasn’t safe and warned them not to approach.

Peter wondered if Anna would walk away and leave him to die, but she felt no one deserved to die alone.

Anna hoped that wherever Peter ended up, he found some measure of peace.

Anna took Peter’s hand and gently shushed him until he died in front of her. Anna cried as she closed Peter’s eyes with her hand and told him goodbye.

Back in Port Charles, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) ordered scotch at Charlie’s Pub and broke the “CarSon” divorce news to Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor).

Sonny was glad to hear Brando had made progress with Sasha and suggested a trip to Niagara Falls to keep the momentum going.

After Brando headed out, Sonny looked at Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) contact info on his phone and ordered another scotch.

Meanwhile, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) cornered Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) outside Kelly’s to discuss the situation with Sasha, who was using work to avoid grief.

Although things were on hold with the IPO until Maxie came back, Sasha met with Nina and Lucy to share some ideas.

In a moment alone with Nina, Sasha confessed that Brando needed her and added that she didn’t want to lose him, too.

At one point, the blue-haired woman Sasha previously scored drugs from approached to offer a pick-me-up.

Sasha declined, but she changed her mind after Brando showed up and sold her on the idea of a romantic getaway.

Sasha knew she needed something to get through the next few days, so she turned to her druggie friend for that pick-me-up after Brando left.

Back at the hospital, Brook Lynn and Chase let Louise August (London and Jett Prinzo-Berendt) have a visit with Mac Scorpio (John J. York) and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) – though Brook Lynn pointed out that the baby still responded more to “Bailey.”

Brook Lynn looked glum as Robert gushed over how much the baby looked like Maxie.

However, Brook Lynn assured Chase she was relieved after Felicia called to say she was safe along with Maxie.

Word trickled out that Peter was dead, so Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) asked Britt about libations to celebrate and ultimately offered a drink to Robert.

Austin wound up quizzing Britt about her true feelings since Peter was still Britt’s brother, but she suggested she was mostly relieved.

Since this meant Maxie was coming home, Britt fished to find out what that would mean for Austin.

As for Brook Lynn and Chase, they shared some chips near the vending machine and discussed how the goal was always to keep “Bailey” safe.

With Peter truly gone, Maxie could now take her baby back.

Chase was eager for everyone to see what a noble thing Brook Lynn had done.

Brook Lynn praised Chase as well, so he acknowledged that they made a good team.

Chase and Brook Lynn then got swept up in a passionate kiss, but Brook Lynn seemed flustered in the aftermath and focused on the dropped chip mess.

Next, Anna assured Maxie, Felicia and Drew that Peter was dead.

Anna confirmed that she watched Peter take his last breath and later admitted to Felicia that she didn’t call the ambulance.

Felicia thought Anna 100 percent did the right thing, but Anna suggested it was the necessary thing instead.

Although Anna hated that she couldn’t figure out a way to stop Peter sooner, she thought the Peter she once cared for never really existed.

Maxie and Felicia learned they could give their statements on the plane home, so Maxie cried with relief over this nightmare being over.

Felicia remained deeply grateful to Anna for doing what needed to be done.

At Charlie’s Pub again, Sonny left a drunk voicemail for Nina. Sonny suggested he wasn’t doing so hot right now and thought “Mike” would be a better option.

Sonny talked about how much Nina loved “Mike” and said he needed someone to talk to, but he decided he didn’t know what he was doing and hung up.

Although Sonny got his keys out and planned to drive home, Nina exchanged smiles with Sonny as she arrived to stop him.

General Hospital spoilers say Nina will try to be there for Sonny in his time of need, so stay tuned!
