In tonight’s Masterchef Junior, the best home cooks in America have gathered for a new episode tonight. Often the Juniors were a lot better than the adults. Therefore, they truly are the best that America had to offer and it was great seeing more of them. The group was told they would be partaking in a group challenge. The group challenges are always hard because sometimes a team falls apart due to poor leadership and sometimes it happens because one person holds up the rest. The team captains tonight had to be careful in their selection. They were in the top ten now, but they were all competing to become the top five. The group split up into two teams of five. The team captains were Abir and Molly.

Molly leads the Red Team. Abir led the Blue Team. They both strived to pick teams that had strong competitors and who followed directions well. It was one thing to be a great cook but being a great follower and not letting ego take the front seat proved that they could work well with others. It was only after they were finishing selecting their teams that they were brought to their destination. They weren’t going to cook in the MasterChef kitchen. They were cooking in a newly built kitchen at a motocross rally. The team leaders also weren’t going to be cooking with the teams they chose. This was Season 7.

Season 7 came with surprises. Molly and Abir had to switch teams. It worked out great for Molly because she had a team that Abir set up who were listeners. It started off as a disaster for Abir though because he had A’Dan. A’Dan doesn’t like the rules. He doesn’t like being a team player. He wants to be the boss at all times and he even tried to do that on the Red Team. Abir gave A’Dan a position that he thought would keep him away. Only, A’Dan started taking over right from the start. There was also Ciara on his team. She forgot to salt her station. She didn’t realize she forgot until Gordon Ramsay came around.

Still, that wasn’t as bad as when A’Dan refused to cook his station. He actually refused to do potatoes. He nominated himself to do the grilling. That was supposed to be Abir’s station and Abir let A’Dan do it because he just wanted to save himself from a fight. But not everything was perfect for the Blue Team. Starla was on the reddish for the main dish. She overused mustard and the dish was inedible. Both Ramsay and even her captain Molly had to spit out when they tasted it. The Blue and Red Team each cooked a plate of their main dish for the judges to taste. The judges told Abir that his dish runs a little too close to being overdone.

They also thought his side dishes both needed something. The same was said of Molly on her side dishes except her meat was actually undercooked. The undercooked part was on Molly. She was the Grill Queen. She had to step it up. Molly often had to correct Starla’s station. If she wasn’t over-seasoning the salsa, she was under-seasoning it. Molly was still trying to correct Starla’s mistake as Abir got into an argument with A’Dan. A’Dan took over the grill station only for it to feel like he was trying to sink it. There was no consistency with his station. He refused to accept help. He refused to do another station. He was just a mess.

Abir had to step in. It took him a while, but he finally just had enough of A’Dan’s attitude and he stepped in. He helped save the meat station. He was able to save the Red Team. They finished out their service. The Blue Team was able to do the same. The audience was asked on camera whose dish they enjoyed the best and they just kept saying the Red Team. It turns out Starla wasn’t just under-seasoning. Her side dishes were overall inconsistent. Even Cruz and Ivy who were on brussels sprouts were messing up. The Blue Team was so bad that they lost this group challenge. And Molly knows who on her team let her down.

After the challenge was over, both teams clapped for the other. They all did well and it was unfortunate that someone had to go home. But that’s the way it had to be. The member of the Blue Team that was eliminated tonight was Starla. Her dishes went from spicy to bland and undercooked. She never got it right. It’s what sunk her team. And so sadly this was going to be Starla’s last episode.

But this won’t be the last we heard of Starla. She wants to open up her own food truck and one day she will be known for “Starla Snacks”.

THE END!
