In tonight’s NCIS Hawai’i episode, Lucy has been selected for the Special Agent Afloat position. She applied last year after she broke up with Whistler and didn’t get it. It went to someone else. The someone else had a recent medical emergency. Lucy’s name floated to the top for replacement and yet she didn’t want to take the job. She liked her current position. She loves her co-workers. She was also in a committed relationship with Whistler again and she didn’t want to jeopardize it. All of these reasonings were something Tennant understood. Tennant has been in a position herself where she had to travel for work and she ultimately took her job with NCIS in order to stay in one place long enough to raise her family.

Tennant told Lucy to think about it before making a decision. Lucy would have asked the others for their input as well if they hadn’t caught a case first. Tennant and her team were looking for Allie Acosta. Allie’s son reported her missing. He said his mom went on her usual run with their dog and their dog came back to the apartment, but no mom. The team looked into it and it was clear that Allie was abducted. They tracked down her kidnapper. He told them that he was a bounty hunter. He was arresting Allie and he had her in the trunk of his car. The guy came out of the car to show his hands when out of nowhere Allie snuck into the driver’s seat and took off.

Allie ran away from NCIS. She doesn’t want to be rescued. She wants to go on the run. Allie Acosta was really Allison Perez. She was wanted for embezzlement by the FBI. She escaped while out on parole. She’s been on the run for the past eleven years. No one in her life knew about her past. Her husband was a sailor on a submarine. He told his stepson Theo that if he ever needed help that he should come to Pearl Harbor and ask the sailors there for help. Which Theo did. Its why NCIS became involved and its why they were set on finding Allie. They tried to tell Theo as gently as possible that his mother ran away because she didn’t know they were the good guys. And he seemed to take it well.

Theo was told that they were going to get him a place to stay through the Family Advocacy Group. Only Theo’s chief concern was about homework and so Jesse took him to his school to pick up his homework, but Theo ran away from him and Theo also tried to hide from two scary looking guys that were also looking for him. Jesse found him before those other guys could. He asked Theo why he ran. Theo told him that he was in danger. Theo admitted that he tried to run off to find his mom on his own and he also said that before he could he noticed that he was being followed by two guys. None of them were the bounty hunter.

Jesse took Theo back to Pearl Harbor. He questioned him. Theo admitted he’s been in communication with his mom and that she wants him to meet up with her before she goes on the run again. It turns out she was messaging him through his gaming system. Theo handed over his game to Jesse. They then messaged Allie by telling her that they had Theo safe. Allie told them that she was innocent of the crime and that she had proof. She asked to meet up with them. They agreed to a place and unfortunately they were followed. The bounty hunter went after Allie. She tried to run away again when those two scary dudes grabbed her and threw her in the back of a car.

But the team had been looking into Allie. She never used the twenty million dollars she supposedly stole from her employers and there was something shady about the executives at her old company. They went on to build another firm after their first one went bankrupt. They then had to file for bankruptcy again because again someone again embezzled money from it. Allie might have been telling the truth that someone else embezzled money the first time and the two men grabbing her sure weren’t bounty hunters. They were hired thugs. They knew how to ditch a car. They just didn’t know to turn off the tracker on the gaming system.

NCIS used that to track down Allie’s location. She was back at her apartment and the team figured those thugs wanted the evidence Allie must have collected. The team traveled there. They spotted Allie with the thugs through the neighbor’s window. Jesse made an amazing flying leap from one balcony to another. He surprised the thugs. He also created a diversion while Kai kicked down the front door. Together they took care of the thugs. They also rescued Allie. They got her proof that she hadn’t embezzled the money and while she may still be in trouble for running – she was able to see her son and reassure him. It also helped that her husband was coming back to shore soon. And that way Theo still has family even if his mother still goes to prison.

Lucy meanwhile made a decision about the job. She talked to everyone about it. Including Whistler. She then knew that taking the job would be right for her. And it was only going to be for a couple of months.

THE END!
