In tonight’s NCIS Hawaii episode, the murder of Russell Goodrick was a naval concern because someone killed him to get to a shipment on the docks. The shipment contained spare parts for navy machine guns and so the local police called NCIS once they realized these items were in fact. They were taken in a robbery. A robbery that Goodrick seems to have disturbed. Hence he was killed and the team were now were investigating the murder of a civilian. Their first concern was finding the missing items. They used their tech guy to locate some of the shipments and it led back to a joint federal task force. The Coast Guard, the FBI, and DHS were all over this. They were looking for the missing items as well because of the threat to national security.

NCIS was brought into the overall investigation. They had to deal with Whistler and her team. They also had to work together. They needed to find the items before they could be sold as contraband weapons and while they were assisting with the larger investigation – Tennant was dealing with a personal matter. Her son came to her concerned. He told her that he’s worried about his best friend and how he hasn’t seen him in days. Tennant was close to the boy’s mother because they were friends but they haven’t talked much since the divorce and after the other woman moved to Arizona for a job.

Tennant tried contacting the boy’s father. He wasn’t answering any of her calls. She stopped by the house and saw it was in disarray. She also noticed that the son was doing his best to hide what’s going on, but that only made Tennant even more concerned and so she looked into the boy’s father. She went to the hospital were he works. She found out he had gotten fired months ago over missing fentanyl and a negative drug test. Its clear the man has a drug addiction. He was a danger to himself and his son. And his son’s childhood was being taken away from him.

Tennant spoke to the father. She told him that he has to make things right. He has to put his son first and work on taking care of him, but if that doesn’t happen, then Tennant knows she has to call social services. This got back to her son. Her son was angry with her. He asked her to help his friend and right now it doesn’t feel like she’s doing that. Tennant’s conversation with her son aside, the rest of the team were in a better place. She tracked down a lead after finding two severed fingers in the back of a suspect’s car and so from there they were able to track down who the fingers belonged to.

But that was a red herring. The supposed victim claimed to have been captured to put together weapons and the team later realized he was the mastermind beyond the heist once his story stopped panning out. The team went looking for him once they realized the truth but by then their suspect was gone and so it’s a good thing they figured out why they needed the parts. It turns out that a couple of months ago that the schematics to a new weapon went missing from a lab. Everyone assumed that the plans went missing during a clerical error and now they’ve learned that those plans had been stolen.

The stolen plans along with a prototype proving its worth was worth millions. The team now knew they were looking for and so tracking him down to an arms deal was no problem. The team was able to witness the deal go down. They then arrested every party involved. It just didn’t help Tennant with her kid. Her son was angry at her. He lashed out and so she talked to her ex. She told him that their son needed him now more than ever and her ex-husband was kind enough to say their son wouldn’t have gone to her in the first place if he didn’t think she could handle it.

And her ex was right. Tennant later spoke with her son and her son told her how worried he is for his friend because he doesn’t think his friend’s father was in a good place.

THE END!
