Tonights The Blacklist episode begins with Ressler who is very upset when he sees Keen get shot, he takes someone’s vehicle and chases after Dembe and Red, thinking that they caused her death. Ressler calls Cooper who tells him that Red had nothing to do with it and he is no condition to drive – then we see Ressler crash in the car he is in.

Fast forward two years, Ressler is in Cooper’s office and asks him how Agnes is holding up, he says amazingly well and she wants the anniversary of her mother’s death to be a celebration not a mourning, so that is what they are doing tonight and Ressler is welcome to join them. Ressler says no, he just came in to see if he can get the morning off. Cooper gives him a photo, Agnes wanted him to have it and it is of him and Keen.

We then see Ressler after the crash, doctors are working on trying to save his life. Cooper is outside the room and he gets made at the police officers who have Ressler handcuffed to the bed. Then, Ressler is awake and he asks Cooper how the woman is that he hit in the crash, Cooper says better, healing and she should be fine. Cooper says the bureau will have a disciplinary hearing once Ressler is out, what they decide will go a long way if the DA files charges, they all know Ressler was DUI. He also lets him know that Red has vanished and Keen had a will, she named Cooper and his wife as legal guardians for Agnes.

Ressler is in therapy, the doctor tells him that he will be in pain for awhile, Ressler doesn’t want drugs, but the doctor insists, he prescribes Oxycodeine.

Cooper calls Ressler and asks why he didn’t show up at his discipline hearing, he says he is not going. Ressler says he is willing to give up his badge and his gun, if he stays he will hunt for him and he doesn’t want to. Ressler heads to a motel for the night. In his room, he closes the curtains and he is now on stronger drugs than oxy, he is on cocaine. Ressler heads to a local bar and orders a drink. After a while he pays his tab and then hooks up with the local drug dealer. They go in a back room and the guy, along with another starts to beat him up.

They rob him while the bar waitress watches. Ressler is back at his motel, he grabs some ice to put on his face. He sees a doctor and finds out that he has a couple of broken ribs. Thanks to the woman who works at the motel, he gets a job at a garage. He goes back to the motel and pays the lady with some money he got upfront for the job. All of a sudden, a police car drives up and the woman panics, she hides with her boy and Ressler covers for them. Once the police is gone, he demands to know what is going on from her.

Then we see Ressler getting his beard cut off and afterwards he heads to a florist to get purple carnations. He takes the flowers and goes to Elizabeth Keen’s grave, when he sees the gravestone he breaks down and sits on the ground. He tells her everything that has happened after she died, when everything fell apart, when he fell apart and hit rock bottom. He tells him about Liberty Falls, the little town, the job fixing cars.

Back to the motel, the police officer is her husband. She shows Ressler scars where he abused her. She always forgave him, he would apologize and bring her flowers. If he stayed away from her son Theodore, she probably would have stayed. One day her son was being a normal kid and her husband, Shane, backhanded him across the face. She left the next morning and never looked back. She didn’t go to the police because he was the police. Ressler tells her that if he is as bad as she says he is, he will back. The story moves forward on Theodore and Ressler and how their relationship developed.

Theodore wants to invite Ressler to his birthday party but Ressler declines, he says that he doesn’t want to be his friend, he doesn’t want to be close to him because bad things happen to people he is close to. At work, he fixed the owner’s old car and felt great when ti was driveable again. Ressler tells her about Agnes wanting to celebrate her life, and he is stuck between being asleep and being awake.

The day of Theodore’s part, his mom sings happy birthday but Theodore doesn’t look happy, she tries to make the best of it. She tells him that one day, whatever he wishes for will come true. There is a knock at the door and Shane shows up, she tries to call the cops and he pushes her away, then yells at Theodore and tells him to leave, it is an adult conversation. Theodore runs to find Ressler and tells him that Shane found them, he is there.

In the motel room, the woman is trying to save herself as Shane is attacking her. Ressler bangs down the door and shouts at him to get away from her. A gun goes off. Then we see an ambulance and police officers, from the evidence they know it was self-defence. The police reveal that Ressler is an ex decorated FBI agent. Theodore’s mom tells Ressler that she is looking for a fresh start, is it crazy that they can look together. Ressler leaves and doesn’t say goodbye, but he puts a radio on his nighttable with bow for Theodore. The boy doesn’t understand why Ressler left, his mother says he is in a lot of pain.

THE END!
