At the hospital, Shaun and Lea have cancelled their wedding, they are happy and they want to enjoy it, live in the moment. Marcus comes down the stairs, he says as the new president they have been through challenging times. They have always been about the people and they are going to go back to putting patients first. He is reinstating Audrey as the chief of surgery.

Everyone claps and looks happy, except Audrey. Marcus tells Aaron and Morgan that they lost the clinic contract because of Morgan’s confession. He is closing the clinic, he can’t justify the expense of keeping it open. He has arranged for Bay area medical to take over their care. Aaron wants to look at the budget and find a way to keep it open. Marcus tells him that he will be busy in the OR, he is a gifted surgeon.

There is an emergency in the OR, car accident, a family of three involved. The little girl, Alice, is going to be ok, but her two parents are in surgery and may not make it. She asks Shaun if her parents cold die, he tells her that it is still too soon to tell. She starts crying, he hands her a tissue.

During surgery, Marcus makes a comment about Audrey not looking happy about resuming the role, she tells him it is a role she shouldn’t have lost in the first place.

Morgan is meditating, when Shaun interrupts her. She tells him that she sucks at the moment. She needs a plan. He tells her that she is acting very strangely. Jordan interrupts them, Alice’s hemoglobin is 9 and there is blood in her test tube. She goes in for an MRI. Shaun can’t figure out what is going on with her, but plans on spending a lot of time with her until he figures it out. Shaun then meets Lea in the cafeteria, he brings Alice with him and she talks non-stop to Lea about their engagement. She doesn’t understand on how there is no ring, no date and says isn’t she more like his girlfriend.

Marcus and Audrey come to head to head over a patient. Then, Audrey tells him off about his following Salen’s orders and only coming to their defence at the last minute.

Shaun consults with Alex about Alice, then he asks him if he thinks he and Lea are just boyfriend and girlfriend. Alex tells him that he and Lea will figure out what the right thing to do is. Then he gives him medical advice for Alice. Shaun goes to see Alice, he is about to give her a shot and she says her mom lets her hold her hand, she doesn’t like needles.

He tells her that she can hold his hand as hard as she wants. She tells him it hardly hurt, he is good at his job. Jordan walks in and says her dad is out of surgery, he lost his leg, but he is ok. Alice tells her that she doesn’t want to see him.

During surgery, Marcus tells Aaron that he feels bad about closing the clinic.

Donald is in emergency, he has chest pains. Morgan is there, she is his chess partner and Alex is surprised to find that out.

Lea is taking to Shuan, he tells her that he thinks they should pick a date for their wedding. She asks him about enjoying the moment, he says he is not enjoying it. Jordan tells Shaun that Alice won’t talk to her.

Aaron, Audrey and Marcus are discussing Alice’s mother, Asher walks in and tells them that she is in total heart failure, he is prepping the OR.

Shaun goes to see Alice who asks him if her dad is in a lot of pain. She says she was kicking the back of the driver’s seat, he missed her choir practice and she was mad. He kept telling her to stop, he turned around, she heard her mom scream and then there were sirens – it was all her fault. He says it was his fault that his brother Steve died, but it was his fault too because he decided to hide on the roof of the train, he fell and broke his neck.

Her dad didn’t pay attention and it was his fault too, but he is sure they love her very much. In his case, his parents didn’t love him. She says she is sorry for the bad things that have happened to him. She changes her mind, she wants to see her dad. All of a sudden, Alice passes out and Shaun shouts that he needs help, she his bleeding in her chest.

In surgery, Marcus tells Audrey and Aaron that the death of the baby kept him up at night, but he believe Salen that it kept her up at night as well and she would make changes. He should have stepped up earlier. Alice’s mother is crashing in surgery. In another operating room, Alice is also in critical condition and Shaun has to open her chest, he needs help but nobody can leave her mother for ten minutes. Alice is going into shock, Marcus arrives just in time, but Shaun did very good up to that point.

Alice is going to be ok, so is her father and mother. Alice leans into Shuan for a hug, he gives her one but tells Jordan he doesn’t want to do it again.

Morgan tells Marcus that she thinks she can save the clinic, and she is not ready to be in charge of it, Aaron is.

Lea arrives home, Shaun is there, with a ring, he made It himself out of a gum wrapper. He proposes to her. Lea tells him it is perfect.
