Tonight’s The Resident episode begins with a gala, Dr. Moss presents a lifetime of service award to Dr. Bell. Conrad sees a strange man walking behind Randolph, he runs up and tackles him only to find that the man is there to give him an envelope, he’s been served.

The next day, Conrad is sitting with Billie while she enjoys a coffee and asks her on a real date. The two jump up when they hear an ambulance come. It’s a 13 male named Malik, possible overdose. They get him inside incubate him and give him Narcan. A little girl named Tallie is nearby, she says Malik is going to be so mad she called 911 when his parents find out. She says Amir had the pills, he hurt his back and got them a long time ago from a doctor. She has one of the pills on her and gives it to Conrad.

Kit wants Randolph to postpone the deposition until they have more information. He says he is more worried about Leela, but Kit reminds him that she is not being sued, he is the one in the line of fire. He says they’ve got nothing, Claire Wiliiams’ sepsis was so far along that even if the kidney stones hadn’t masked it, they couldn’t have saved her. Kit says it is the Governor, he wanted to embarrass him by seeing a subpoena on stage when he was getting an award. He says he doesn’t scare that easily.

Leela is nervous, Devon tells her just to tell the truth, it’s going to be fine. He has gone over the records, it is textbook.

Billie got the test back on the pill, it is Fentanyl. Conrad tacks Amir’s number on Malik’s phone and heads out to find him. When he arrives at a school, he finds two boys laying down on the ground, one is gone, and it’s too late. The other one, Conrad injects with something and saves his life. Conrad then finds Amir, he is laying on some stairs, his head bloodied, Conrad injects him as well.

During the deposition, Randolph is advised to only answer questions, don’t give more than what they ask for. His lawyer says Costican is not a regular lawyer and this is not a normal case, Costican is a loose cannon, he has private detectives out there talking to former patients, they are digging through everything, and these guys are scary and well-connected.

Three more teenagers come into the ER who have overdosed. Ian is in the OR, he checks on the Fentanyl overdoses, asks Conrad if he found the rest of the pills, and slowly looks over at the backpack on the floor.

At the deposition, Leela is questioned about Claire Williams’ surgery, then Devon is questioned about MS, and how that would cause someone to perform surgery.

Marshall tells Kit that he thinks Randolph should settle, if he loses this suit, they all lose.

Randolph is outside the boardroom and notices the intern that rubbed in on the surgery for Claire Williams.

Billie and AJ are going into the OR with one of the teenagers who overdosed to try and save his life.

Malik is waking up, and Conrad goes in to see him. He tells him that his brother and some kids took the same pills, his brother took a bad fall and is in surgery right now. One of his friends didn’t make it. He assures him that Tallie didn’t take any pills and she probably saved his life.

Kit tells Randolph that Marshall is worried, he thinks he should settle and the stress is bad for him.

Ian openly stole some drugs from an operating room tray.

Costican won’t settle, and they are saying that Randolph showed signs of his MS in the deposition. Kit asks Marshall what do they do, he hands her a note with the Governor’s cell phone number on it.

Ian calls Billie into an office, he says he is in a jam. He hands her a bottle of drugs, he tells her it was left over after surgery and he was going to use it on himself. She looks at the bottle and tells him it is Propofol, it could kill him. He says he needs her help. He asks her to prescribe him the medication that he needs, but she will not enable him. She says she will help him by getting him a rehab facility, or she will report him. If he goes to rehab, she won’t tell anyone, she will lie one last time, then she is done.

Randolph asks Conrad for a favor, he has had a flare-up and wants a quick hit of prednisone, he doesn’t want to tell Kit.

Kit goes to see the Governor and asks him what he wants and they can work it out among adults. He says her husband picked a fight with the wrong man, and he has to make an example of him. He wants him to lose his job and his medical license. She comes on strong and attacks him back, and lets him know that he is also picking a fight with the wrong person.

Amir is stable, but they won’t know how he is until he wakes up. AJ tells Conrad this whole case with the Fentanyl makes him terrified about his kids growing up in this world.

Kit goes back to the hospital and finds Randolph still there. She tells him that she may have done something stupid, she met with the Governor, and she thought they could come to an understanding but this guy wants to destroy him and she may have lost her temper, they are in for one hell of a fight.

Ian is sitting in his office alone when Billie walks in and asks if he is ready. She tells him the drive is a couple of hours, they specialize in treating doctors. He says he is scared, she says she is too.

THE END!
