Tonight’s The Walking Dead episode begins with the aftermath of the last episode. Lance suspects Aaron and Gabriel because all of his trained and armed soldiers are dead and they claim they didn’t do it, the group that did escape. Daryl tells Lance that if they say they were not involved in the killings, including Lance, then that is what happened. Lance suspects that Aaron and Gabriel know the group in the building. Lance turns to Daryl and tells him to suit up, he wants the group in the building foundation. Lance says he is going to go to Hilltop and let them know some dangerous people are on the loose.
Mercer and Princess are in bed, they are obviously into more than just a friendship. She tells him that if there is anything that he needs to get off his chest, she is pretty good at listening. He says no.
Eugene and Rosita meet with Connie because of her position as a news person. Rosita says that Sebastien and some of his cronies forced her and Daryl to steal cash from an abandoned house. There was a woman there, they had done this before, she and the other women didn’t make it out alive and there are good people, they deserve to know the truth. Someone sent Connie a list of names of people who went missing, April Martens is on that list, she is the one from the house. They realize there is a lot hidden in the community they live in.
Ezekiel meets Carol outside and tells her to thank him, he can’t imagine the lengths she went to for him to have his surgery. He tells her that he trusts her more than anyone, and he is getting healthy again, so she is stuck with him.
On the way to Hilltop, Lance and his men encounter some walkers. He tells Daryl, Aaron, and Gabriel to get rid of them, and they do and he tells them a nice job, they didn’t even break a sweat.
Ezekiel meets Tomi about a friend of his that needs a small procedure, an appendectomy. She doesn’t have any money, he wants him to do it outside the hospital. Tomi says it is risky.
Eugene meets with Max and tells her what happened with Rosita.
They arrive at Hilltop, Lance tells Maggie there are killers on the loose and they are looking for them. He wants to take a quick look around, she is against it, Daryl tells Lance that he will speak to Maggie, he doesn’t want more bloodshed. Daryl tells Maggie that nobody is leaving until they look around. He is asking her to trust him, nothing will happen, they will just look and go. Maggie gives the go-ahead for them to enter Hilltop.
Max goes to see Mercer and asks him what the heck is going on, people are missing. He tells her the place isn’t perfect and they are lucky to be there. People kill each other, people die, it is part of the job. She tells him that she is not a little girl anymore, he doesn’t have to play big brother and protect her from the world. He reminds her about almost getting caught on the radio. She asks him how is ok letting Sebastien go free for what he does. He says if he goes after him, what does she think will happen to him. And if the Commonwealth falls, what will happen to all the people. She tells him that he can be so much more than a soldier, he can change the place.
Ezekiel and Tomi are stealing surgical supplies to conduct the operation and they get caught by the Commonwealth soldiers.
Lance finds a truck, Maggie says it doesn’t work – he looks under the hood and says the starter relay is unhooked, that is why it didn’t work. He goes inside to try to turn it on and it doesn’t work.
Ezekiel and Tomi are in handcuffs, Carol uses her influence to get them released. They all go to a veterinary clinic, that is not really a clinic for animals, it is for people who can’t afford medical care. The surgery is a success.
Mercer apologizes to Princess, he tells her this whole thing is new to him,. She leans and kisses him. She says she has special senses and she knows when someone is not ok. He tells her that he killed two of his men and covered it up. He never thought he would be that kind of guy, it is not how his parents raised him and it is messing with his head. He always tries to keep it together, be solid, and keep everyone safe. He is tired. She tells him they should go inside their apartment and figure it out together.
Lance sees Herschel and says he has an exciting life, then asks if he took any trips lately, or his mom. And, he doesn’t want anything to happen to his mom, he wants to keep her safe and he can’t do that with secrets. Herschel says he should go and get his mom. Lance is heard with Hershel, Daryl, and Maggie and Commonwealth soldiers run to help him. Lance tells the soldiers to back and tells Maggie it is shame they couldn’t be friends. Noticeably, Daryl doesn’t have on his Commonwealth uniform.
Daryl, Aaron, and Gabriel are in the woods with the Commonwealth, they have left Hilltop.
Max goes to see Eugene, she says she hates sneaking around, she wanted things to go back to normal – maybe she was not made for this. She tells him there is no choice because there is no back to normal, they know what they know and can’t wait around for someone else to step up and help. He takes her hand and tells her that he will be by her side come hell or high water. He leans in, they kiss each other.
Leah is seen cleaning a gun at the campground. She hears something and goes inside her tent, outside there are Commonwealth soldiers, she takes a lot of them out and Lance shouts to hold her fire, they are there to talk. Leah comes out of her hiding place and tells him to talk fast. He tells her that he is Lance Hornsby and he is there to offer her a job.
