The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Jordi Vilasuso is OUT at Y&R and is exiting the role of Rey Rosales. SOD confirms that Vilasuso is departing as Rey and will make his last appearance this spring.
Y&R hasn’t released a final airdate just yet, but we’ll be sure to pass along that news once it comes in.
Insiders had already been buzzing about Vilasuso’s exit, but now it’s a done deal that he’s leaving as Rey.
There are no details on how Vilasuso might be written out just yet, but it sounds like he’ll leave rather abruptly unless it’s a recast situation.
Although Vilasuso is a great actor, he’s never been given a real chance to shine as Rey in Genoa City.
Some viewers were hopeful about a Rey and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) romance thanks to all the bonding they’ve been doing, but that’s apparently not going to pan out.
Assuming that the character is gone along with Vilasuso himself, Chelsea should move into another storyline.
Of course, this also means Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) will need another pairing, so the show may continue building toward a Sharon and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) reunion.
Nick and Sharon have already been reconnecting in a big way, so a new “Shick” chapter seems to be on the horizon.
As for Jordi Vilasuso, plenty of fans will miss him now that he’s confirmed to be off the show.
Goodbyes can be tough, but we have no doubt that Vilasuso will find success as he moves on.
In fact, Vilasuso is already staying busy with some new projects – like a podcast called Making It Work, which Vilasuso does with his wife, Kaitlin Vilasuso.
