The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) may move home with a Summer Newman (last played by Hunter King) recast. This could be Michael Mealor’s chance at a full-time Genoa City comeback, so let’s talk about where the story might go from here.
Kyle is currently living in Italy with Summer and Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez), who is perhaps officially Harrison Abbott by now.
They’re all having the time of their lives in Milan, but there’s just no place like home – at least on a soap!
Daytime dramas always find a reason to bring popular characters back in the mix. Summer and Kyle were definitely a hot duo for the show.
They drove major storylines for quite some time, so it’s easy to see why Y&R would want both Kyle and Summer back long-term.
However, the show put out a casting call not too long ago that revealed the search for a new Summer.
They’re looking for another actress they can put on contract since Hunter King left following failed negotiations.
Of course, we should note that the show has made plans to replace King before!
Those fell through and ended with King returning after all, so you never really know what can happen behind the scenes.
There’s still a chance Hunter King and Michael Mealor will both make comebacks to give us the optimum “Skyle.”
Nevertheless, we should also consider the possibility that the show wants someone who’ll for sure stick around as Summer.
If they can lock Mealor into a new contract, they may lock in a new actress as well and start building another version of his pairing with Summer.
It’s obvious the show plans to bring back Summer in some form, so it’s reasonable to assume Kyle will return as well.
Since Mealor made a return via video chat in the March 15 episode, that could be a positive sign about his full-blown comeback.
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) could’ve just talked to an offscreen Kyle over the phone, but the show chose to have Mealor film this little appearance.
Could that lead to Mealor’s Kyle returning to Genoa City with a Summer recast on his arm?
