Y&R spoilers reveal that when Billy and Lily were still at ChancComm, Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) nearly destroyed both of their careers.
Jill was forced to take drastic action and was furious with Billy when Ashland’s legal team filed a lawsuit.
Even though Billy was slammed by Jill, Lily was applauded for how she handled the situation.
After that, Lily was handed the reins at Chancellor Industries. Meanwhile, Billy received a demotion.
Instead of working side-by-side with Lily, he was under her and was banned from making any decisions without authorization.

In fact, Jill has been singing Lily’s praises to anyone that will listen. Jill even told Billy that she would never forgive him if he did anything to ruin his relationship with Lily.
It seems that Lily has been put on a pedestal for a few months now. In the soap world, that usually means everything is about to come crashing down.
Billy Abbott’s Relationship
The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that one aspect of Lily’s life that could get complicated is her relationship with Billy.
Even though Billy clearly is in love with Lily, he also feels like an outsider.
Billy also doesn’t like being handled or treated like a child.
Even though Lily has good reason for putting Billy in his place when he gets his crazy ideas, it is bound to create some resentment.
Plus, there is Billy’s reconnection with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). The two didn’t just share one scene but a few.
So, that suggests that Billy could get closer to Chelsea, especially if he continues feeling like a child rather than Lily’s equal.

It is teased that during the week of July 4, Lily will consider expanding her portfolio. That could be a clue that Lily is about to make a big business investment.
Lily might think it’s a foolproof move. Lily might not just invest in this particular company personally, but she could have Chancellor-Winters invest in it as well.
With everything going so perfectly for Lily and her doing no wrong in Jill’s eyes, it sounds like this might be a bad investment.
