The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) will meet the birth mom of their potential new baby, but these adoptive parents must pass the test first.
Y&R fans know Tessa and Mariah already faced some disappointment when a private adoption attorney declined to represent them.
Due to Mariah and Tessa’s criminal records, that attorney anticipated too many hurdles and thought they’d be a tough sell as adoptive parents.
Although that was a discouraging setback, better news is coming up during the week of October 17-21.
Now that Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) is representing Mariah and Tessa, they’ll feel much better about their chances of adopting a child.
It turns out there’ll be an expectant mother who’s interested in potentially giving her baby to Tessa and Mariah.
However, this woman won’t agree to hand over her kid without getting to know Mariah and Tessa in advance.
In other words, Tessa and Mariah will be put to the test. There’ll be a lot riding on this initial birth mom meeting and any follow-up meetings that come after it.
Mariah already went through a rough time when she became too attached to Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware), so she’ll know better than to get her hopes up too high.
As they take the next steps in this process, Mariah will keep her expectations low so she doesn’t set herself up for pain.
There’s always the possibility of a crushing setback, especially if this woman agrees to let Mariah and Tessa adopt her child – only to change her mind at the last minute.
The show doesn’t have much else for Tessa and Mariah to do, so they might want to drag this storyline out with some devastation like that.
Regardless, Mariah and Tessa will strategize with Christine ahead of this birth mom meeting, but Christine’s best advice may be to just be themselves and let all the love they would have for this baby shine through.
