The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) criminal records could bring an adoption problem. Will Y&R use this as a speed bump on their road to parenthood?
At the moment, both Tessa and Mariah seem a little too thrilled with their adoption decision. Whenever a soap couple is in a good place and content with their choices, it usually means an obstacle’s about to hit hard.
Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) is definitely concerned about the struggles Mariah and Tessa might face on their way to becoming moms.
Sharon did her best to warn about how hard the adoption process could be, but Mariah and Tessa are too caught up in their excitement to really grasp that.
There’s the potential for Tessa and Mariah’s criminal pasts to become an issue.
They both have shady histories involving things like theft, grifting, blackmail and more. Of course, the charges were dropped in many cases, but there’s still a chance for their old lives to catch up with them.
Mariah’s time in the cult might even become part of an adoption interview.
It wasn’t Mariah’s fault that she was caught up in all that, but it’s still a negative association that could stir up questions.
This is a golden opportunity for the show to revisit some old Y&R drama and include it was part of a current storyline.
Fortunately, Mariah and Tessa are on much better paths now. They’re no longer facing trouble with the law and have found great success – both individually and as a couple.
Tessa and Mariah want to give a child a happy, loving home since neither of them had one growing up.
The only reason Mariah and Tessa dealt with criminal issues at all is because they were products of terrible circumstances. They’ve both shown tremendous growth, so that should be helpful.
Nevertheless, adoptions can bring tough scrutiny, so there could be some hurdles as Tessa and Mariah work to give some little boy or girl a positive upbringing.
One way or another, The Young and the Restless spoilers say Sharon’s warning about the adoption difficulties ahead should come true.
