The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Monday, May 23 Update – Ashland’s Weakness Exposed – Summer’s Fierce Protection

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, May 23, teases that Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) weakness will be exposed while Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) makes a fierce protection vow. Here’s what Y&R fans can look forward to in Monday’s exciting show.

At Crimson Lights, Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) will express concern over Esther Valentine’s (Kate Linder) date being too eager, but Esther will act like it’s fine and meet Dwight (Sam McMurray) in the park soon after.

Although Dwight will offer flowers and be the perfect gentleman, suspicious Chloe will spy nearby and get caught.

After Esther explains, Chloe will apologize – though she’ll act like you can’t be too careful!

Chloe will still watch Esther and Dwight’s interaction out of sight, but she’ll have a smile on her face this time since the date will go well.

In fact, Dwight will request a second date by the end of the episode.

Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) will also bump into Summer and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) in the park, but Kyle won’t be so sure it’s a coincidence.

Even so, Kyle will end up allowing Diane to meet Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez) – though he won’t mention that Diane is Harrison’s grandma.

Diane will have a sweet interaction with Harrison, but Summer will be anxious to drag her stepson away.

It’ll be obvious Summer has major concerns about Diane’s access to Harrison, but Kyle will think his mom respected boundaries and reminded him of how loving she can be.

Summer will also encounter Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) at the coffeehouse, so that’ll bring a chat about life in Milan and how things are going with Chelsea’s fashion line at Fenmore’s.

After Summer asks a barrage of questions, she’ll eventually make a confession to Kyle.

Summer will admit to gathering info since Fenmore’s has a partnership with Jabot, which could potentially buy Marchetti.

However, Summer won’t be so certain a move back to Genoa City is the right call because of Diane and Ashland.

Harrison will be Summer’s main concern, so Kyle will acknowledge that Summer’s wary of him reconnecting with his mom.

Summer will just want Kyle to take things slow and make whatever decision he’s going to make for him, not anyone else.

As for Diane, Summer will promise to make her mother-in-law regret it if she hurts Kyle or Harrison!

At Newman Enterprises, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will be glad to hear that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) are going on a Switzerland spa trip.

Victoria will advise against making any vengeful Ashland moves and will think he’s just hanging around because of Harrison.

Although Victoria will confess to still having a place in her heart for Ashland, she’ll vow not to be manipulated. This trip will be Victoria’s plan to reset and get rid of any lingering feelings.

At Society, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will run into Ashland and talk about having a lot of time to think in Peruvian jail for weeks.

Ashland will suggest Michael should let him know if he can do anything to help put those memories behind him.

Michael will argue that it’d help if Ashland left Victoria alone and departed Genoa City.

After Michael threatens Ashland with legal action, Ashland will insist on staying in town for Harrison – though he’ll insist that he doesn’t want to create more problems for Victoria.

After Lauren joins the discussion, she’ll chew Ashland out over Michael’s imprisonment in Peru. Ashland won’t admit to anything and will pretend he’s flattered that they think he has that much power.

Lauren will ultimately point out that she played a role in sending Ashland’s ex-wife Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) to prison, so she’ll try her best to put Ashland behind bars, too.

Ashland will seem stressed as he leaves, but then Lauren will rip into Michael for helping Victor with this Ashland crisis.

Michael will promise it’ll be as simple as filing a motion and will downplay the danger, but Lauren will storm out.

Once Michael has a meeting with Victor, he’ll pitch an idea that’s way too safe in Victor’s opinion. Michael will want to bury Ashland in legalities and make it so he surrenders under a mountain of civil suits.

Victor won’t see why that would work since Ashland has faced a ton of lawsuits in the past and has the financial resources to fight them off.

However, Victor will be intrigued when Michael suggests that Harrison might be a genuine reason why Ashland’s staying in town.

When Victor learns that Summer and Kyle have delayed their trip back to Milan, he’ll think maybe Harrison is indeed a factor in Ashland sticking around.

Victor will consider the possibility that Harrison is Ashland’s Achilles’ heel after all.

In the park again, Diane will meet Ashland as they commiserate over their bad days.

After Diane recognizes Ashland’s name and mentions that he’s Harrison’s other father, she’ll reveal that she’s Harrison’s grandmother.

Diane will also mention that she met Harrison for the first time today, so Ashland will find this encounter with Kyle’s mom to be intriguing.

Ashland will hint about what they have in common as the wheels seemingly start turning.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say a powerful alliance could form, but associating with the likes of Ashland could also spell trouble for Diane!
