The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) could be at risk for a mental breakdown. Is a Fairview stint ahead for Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) unraveling rival?
Y&R fans know Phyllis has turned into a total trainwreck of emotions.
Phyllis can’t contain all the rage she feels toward Diane, who certainly isn’t going anywhere as long as Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) wants her around.
The longer Diane is in town, the more unhinged Phyllis seems to get.
Phyllis herself admits she’s unraveling after a particularly wild outburst in the May 26 episode.
Diane lost her cool with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), but she’s remained pretty civil in her faceoffs with Phyllis so far.
There haven’t been any slaps or violent attacks when it comes to Phyllis and Diane, but that could change if Diane keeps pushing Phyllis’ buttons.
Phyllis is already exhibiting some out-of-control behavior – even for her! There’s a difference between having a temper and spinning out completely.
Phyllis seems to be doing the latter at this point, so we can only imagine how bad things will get if Diane fights back.
Diane decided she couldn’t ignore Nikki’s insults any longer, so Phyllis may be next in line.
It’s easy to imagine Diane and Phyllis provoking each other until a physical fight erupts.
Of course, that’s also the kind of situation Diane could use to gain Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) sympathy and pull Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) closer.
If Phyllis is driven to her breaking point and injures Diane during a showdown, that could work in Diane’s favor.
It’d make Phyllis look like the wild one and could even lead to a stint at Fairview if she’s not careful.
Diane would obviously like to have Jack all to herself, so what if her next plot involves driving Phyllis over the edge and having her committed?
We wouldn’t put it past Diane at all – not to mention it fits with these increasingly disturbing outbursts we’re seeing from Phyllis.
If Phyllis herself admits to unraveling, we have to consider how far down this path she’ll go.
That’s especially true since Diane is the ultimate wildcard and the kind of woman who would have Phyllis thrown in Fairview to get her out of the way.
There’s no guarantee it’ll get that far, but anyone can see that Phyllis’ mental state hasn’t been the best since Diane resurfaced.
Phyllis is making impulsive decisions and having major meltdowns, so she could be headed down a deranged path. We’ll offer updates as other Y&R news comes in.
