The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) could soon be Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) new boss, so a feud may follow Lauren Baldwin’s (Tracey E. Bregman) big decision.
Y&R fans know Lauren really wants Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) to ditch all the Newman danger and stop working for Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
The money and satisfaction of a challenge aren’t worth it in Lauren’s eyes – not if Victor’s assignments are going to land Michael in such risky situations.
Since Michael landed in a Peruvian jail after going missing, it’s easy to see why Lauren’s so worried something like that could happen again.
The problem is Michael doesn’t want to fully retire – and he doesn’t think Lauren is willing to let someone else run Fenmore’s either.
Of course, Lauren might change her mind about that and get desperate enough to meet Michael halfway.
What if Lauren indeed leaves Fenmore’s in someone else’s capable hands and uses that to push Michael to step back from his Newman job?
As luck would have it, the perfect person to take over is about to return to town.
Summer is on her way back to Genoa City, where she’ll need a lucrative offer if she’s going to be lured away from her dream job at Marchetti.
The offer to run Fenmore’s would certainly fit the bill. Naturally, that would also make Summer the boss and create some interesting conflict if she clashes with Chelsea.
Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) is pretty agreeable when it comes to work and has a real willingness to compromise.
Chelsea, on the other hand, is stubborn and tends to think she’s always right.
When Chelsea and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) had their own fashion feud, it seemingly went beyond the fact that they were both into Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Chelsea also just hated Sally’s ideas and perhaps resented the up-and-comer’s success.
Likewise, Summer is younger than Chelsea and has been handed opportunities that Chelsea probably thinks she should’ve had instead.
After all, Summer got that Marchetti job because Sally schemed to make it happen!
Now Summer may be poised to waltz right in and take over Fenmore’s, so Chelsea might end up bitter.
It’s easy to imagine Lauren’s hiring decision causing drama – especially if Summer starts scrapping things on Chelsea’s line and making all sorts of changes.
Chelsea needs another rival, even if it’s just in business and has nothing to do with romance this time around.
If the Newmans are going to clash over the CEO seat constantly, we might as well see Summer and Chelsea fighting over who’s running Fenmore’s, too.
