The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Thursday, September 22 Recap – Diane Resigns, Phyllis Fired – Kyle & Summer Surprise Party

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, September 22, reveals that Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) will resign before Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) gets fired. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) will also get a surprise party, so here’s what Y&R fans can look forward to.

At Jabot, Diane will roar at Phyllis to back off right as Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) appears.

Jack will play referee and think the two of them should be glad it wasn’t Kyle who walked in since they’d be out of jobs.

Once Diane apologizes for her outburst and takes off, Jack will realize it’s killing Phyllis not to gloat.

After Jack suggests he’ll leave Phyllis to her glee, he’ll warn that she isn’t off the hook.

In the park, Jack will find Diane crying alone. Diane will beat herself up for lashing out and explain that she’s just been keeping her feelings bottled up for so long.

Jack will be surprised when Diane pulls out her phone and insists Kyle deserves the truth.

Although Jack will vow to keep his mouth shut, Diane won’t want a lie of omission to affect her relationship with Kyle.

At the Abbott house, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will question why Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) is home in the middle of the day since she loves the lab.

Allie will hint about a secret that’s not ready to be revealed just yet.

At Crimson Lights, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) will talk about finalizing some plans before they spot Kyle and Summer at a nearby table.

Although Tessa will act like this encounter could ruin everything, Mariah will urge her to play it cool.

There’ll be some confusion over the photos Summer and Kyle are complaining about since Tessa will assume they’re from her photoshoot.

However, Kyle and Summer will clarify that they’re simply trying to settle on a vow renewal theme and that Tessa did a great job.

Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) will join the wedding redo conversation, but he’ll drag Mariah and Tessa off to discuss something mysterious.

Once Noah, Tessa and Mariah meet up Allie at the Abbott house, they’ll hope Traci’s evening is free.

Traci will get recruited for Kyle and Summer’s surprise, which will be a pre-vow-renewal party at Noah’s new club.

The only problem will be whether to invite Diane and Phyllis since they could stir up conflict.

Allie will come up with the idea to stagger their arrivals, so Traci will think they should invite Diane first since she’ll be easier to get rid of than Phyllis.

Back at the coffeehouse, Phyllis will approach Summer and Kyle to tell them that something’s happened.

Suddenly, Kyle will get a text from Diane, so they’ll all head back to Jabot for a meeting about the earlier incident.

At the office, Phyllis will act like Diane is only owning up because Jack caught her. J

ack will insist that Diane was very remorseful – and Diane will back that up with a speech about how she shouldn’t have lost her temper.

Phyllis will mock this little performance, but Diane will press on and acknowledge the zero-tolerance policy they were warned about.

Instead of making a plea to save her job, Diane will insist she’ll spare Kyle and Summer from firing her by officially resigning.

After Summer and Kyle turn to Phyllis, she’ll flip out over them expecting her to resign, too.

Phyllis will blame Diane, but the rules specified that it didn’t matter who started what. Kyle will insist they’ll be sorry to see them both go.

Once Phyllis and Diane leave, Jack will suggest letting them stew for a while and offering one final chance.

Kyle and Summer will debate whether their moms deserve it before deciding they’ll see how they handle this.

If Diane and Phyllis are crafting apology letters, then they can talk. If they’re planning on waging war, then Phyllis and Diane will be out of chances.

At Crimson Lights again, Phyllis will blast Summer for firing her because of something Diane did.

Summer will remind Phyllis of the agreement and point out that they don’t have time for extra drama while running a major fashion company.

After Summer gets Noah’s text summoning her to The Grand Phoenix, she’ll assume it’s about his club.

Phyllis will want to tag along, but Summer will think they should sleep on this and discuss it in the morning.

Once Phyllis thinks to herself that she can’t let Diane win, she’ll decide that Summer just needs a little nudge to see that Diane was wrong.

Phyllis will then rush off to track Summer down.

At Society, Kyle will find Diane moping by the bar.

After Kyle says he’s proud of Diane for how she handled herself, he’ll assure her that it was just business and won’t affect her relationship with him or Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez).

Once Mariah texts Kyle to come to the Grand Phoenix and bring his mom, Kyle will take Diane to Noah’s new space.

They’ll cross paths with Summer before all the party guests yell out surprise and reveal the pre-wedding bash.

Kyle and Summer will express how grateful they are before Summer steps aside with Noah. Since Kyle’s parents will be there, Summer will ask about her own.

Noah will insist Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is on his way and will explain the staggered arrival idea for Phyllis.

Summer will think that’s a brilliant solution, especially considering the day they’ve just had.

Noah will have a plan to get Diane out the door on time, but he’ll spot Phyllis arriving and realize they’ve hit a snag.

Phyllis will take in the party scene as she wonders what’s going on.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Phyllis will inevitably be offended over being left out, so stay tuned!
