50th Daytime Emmy Award Nominees Announced – B&B, Y&R, Days & GH Honored in Major Categories

It’s a big day for the soap world since all the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominees have been announced. Let’s talk about the exciting daytime dramas and amazing performers who could be taking home statuettes this year.

The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless were all nominated for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series.

The directing teams and writing teams for those same five shows were also given nominations along with the directing and writing team for Peacock’s Beyond Salem: Chapter Two.

In the lead actress category, Sharon Case (Sharon Newman, Y&R), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson, Y&R), Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, GH), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester, B&B) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers, Y&R) all made the list of talented nominees.

Meanwhile, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, GH), Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott, Y&R), Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera, Days), Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester, B&B) and Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott, Y&R) were all nominated for their impressive lead actor performances.

As for the supporting actress category, Krista Allen (Dr. Taylor Hayes, B&B), Sonya Eddy (Epiphany Johnson, GH), Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera, Days), Brook Kerr (Dr. Portia Robinson, GH) and Kelly Thiebaud (Dr. Britt Westbourne, GH) were honored with nominations.

Nicholas Chavez (Spencer Cassadine, GH), Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos, GH), Daniel Feuerriegel (EJ DiMera, Days), Robert Gossett (Marshall Ashford, GH) and Jon Lindstrom (Dr. Kevin Collins and Ryan Chamberlain, GH) were also nominated for their supporting actor performances in a daytime drama series.

In the younger performer category, Cary Christopher (Thomas DiMera, Days), Victoria Grace (Wendy Shin, Days), Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks, GH) and Henry Joseph Samiri (Douglas Forrester, B&B) were nominated as well.

Finally, we can’t leave out the nominees who brought their A-game in guest performances, including Steve Burton (Harris Michaels, Beyond Salem), Cassandra Creech (Dr. Grace Buckingham, B&B), Alley Mills (Heather Webber, GH), Robert Newman (Ashland Locke, Y&R) and Kevin Spirtas (Dr. Craig Wesley, Days).

Now fans just have to wait until the ceremony on June 16 to find out which soaps, actors and actresses will pull off victories!
