In tonight’s Chicago PD episode, Officer Torres found the body of Juan Ariza. Juan was shot and stuffed in the trunk of a car. Torres was led to the body with a mysterious note. He didn’t know who the note was from. He thought he was contacted because some in the neighborhood still respected him for being a cop.

Only Voight knows that there are several cops patrolling that neighborhood. This person could have gone to anyway and they went to Torres. Why? Voight had questions that Torres didn’t seem to want to answer. Torres called the scene in. He also tried calling for an ambulance when he thought Juan could still be saved.

Torres did everything by the book. There was just something about this case that felt off. Voight has a nose for these things and he could tell Torres was withholding information. Torres even identified Juan by sight. He said Juan was some big time drug dealer from his community. He went to prison back into 2016 only it’s assumed he never lost full control of what went on. Torres told Voight all about it. He left out that he personally knew Juan. They searched Juan’s home and Torres removed a photo of himself with Juan.

Juan liked to have a collage of photos with him and his friends on this one wall. Torres removed his photo from it. He did it before anyone else saw that wall. He was hiding his connection to Juan. He simply wasn’t that good at doing so. They all could see that this case was personal for him. They tried talking to him about it and he kept fobbing them off. They later learned over the course of their investigation that Juan had been lured to his death. By Mia. He was flirting with Mia. Mia was once Torres’s friend. She was the one that sent him the note.

Torres told the others that he would talk to her. He didn’t want anyone coming with him. He didn’t wear an earpiece. He went to Mia’s by himself. He questioned her and he found out that she took a job to lure Juan to a location. She didn’t know they were going to kill him. She claimed she needed money for her brother’s defense. One of the reasons that she and Torres were no longer friends is because he put her brother in jail. Her brother was all she had. She hated Torres for doing his job and she only contacted him about Juan’s body because she realized she got in over her head.

Mia also knew that Torres hated Juan. They had personal beef. She could have contacted any other cop about it and instead she contacted Torres because she claimed he should be the one to find him. Torres brought Mia down to the station. The others questioned her. She pretended to have overheard a couple of guys talking to set up Juan. They had evidence refuting this. They used that to force Mia to wear a wire. They wanted the man who hired her to lure Juan admitting to murder on camera.

They sent Mia out. She met up with this Nava guy. She tried asking him about what happened. It wasn’t the plan to kill Juan and so this guy was making all excuses when suddenly he mentioned Torres. He said his people have seen Mia with Torres. They recognized Torres because Torres used to run with Juan back in the day. Torres was Juan’s enforcer. It was rumored that Torres killed a kid by waterboarding him to death. Mia tried to leave once Nava began mouthing off. Only he figured out she was wearing a wire.

The cops then moved in before he could hurt Mia. They arrested him because they have footage of him doing drugs. They tried to fake arrest Mia as well and Nava didn’t fall for it. He called Mia a snitch for everyone at the bar to hear. They later tried interrogate Nava. They asked about Juan. They wanted to know who was involved in this murder and he wouldn’t tell them. He said if he goes down, he’ll bring down Torres with him. He’ll tell everybody that Torres is a dirty cop and a killer. Voight told him that he wouldn’t let that happen.

Torres must have told himself that same thing. Torres went looking for Nava’s friends. He found an eyewitness willing to talk. All Torres had to do was threaten to waterboard over and over until he begs for death. The friend gave up Nava then. He didn’t want to die. Torres has a reputation and no one wanted to cross him. Torres got enough information from this friend that got them the murder weapon. Nava will go down for life for Juan’s murder. Nava now couldn’t use the information against Torres because Torres later told Voight everything.

Torres admitted he did horrible things as an enforcer. He just never waterboarded anyone. He was waterboarded himself and that’s how he got out of the life. Only he still wanted to keep Mia safe. He was hoping on getting her a protection detail. Mia told him he didn’t have to. Mia later left Chicago. She was moving to Iowa to be with her cousin and she told Torres that she wanted to start over somewhere fresh. Where she wouldn’t be reminded she helped kill someone.

THE END!
