Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 27, reveals that Whitley King (Kim Coles) was confused in the interrogation room, where she thought Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) was Charlemagne from Body and Soul.
Marlena tried to convince Whitley of who she was and urged her to accept that she wasn’t Paulina Price (Jackée Harry).
Whitley got emotional since she didn’t want to be Whitley King – the woman responsible for her husband’s demise and someone who had nothing to live for.
Since Whitley assumed she was going to prison anyway, she didn’t understand why Marlena was being so kind to her.
Marlena assured Whitley that she wanted to help her through her trauma, but Whitley felt like she’d done too many horrible things and didn’t deserve help.
At the hospital on Thursday’s Days episode, Lani Grant (Sal Stowers) jokingly told Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) to take a chill pill since he kept fussing over her.
Eli thought he was entitled to be on edge considering the ordeal Lani had been through.
Suddenly, Sam Gerard (A.K. Murtadha) from the U.S. Marshals Office appeared and insisted it was time to take Lani back to prison in Maryland.
Eli pushed Sam to give Lani more time with her father now that Abe had been rescued, but Sam’s hands were tied.
However, Sam was willing to let Lani say goodbye before they took their flight.
In Abe’s hospital room on Thursday’s DOOL show, he woke up with questions. Abe asked Paulina who she was and wondered what happened to his wife.
Paulina explained that she was the real Paulina Price before proving it through her driver’s license and their legit wedding photo.
Abe finally said he remembered Paulina, so she got excited thinking his memory was back.
Unfortunately, Abe pointed out that he was only talking about a flashback he had of jumping the broom with Paulina.
When it came to who Paulina was and the loved they shared, Abe just couldn’t recall any of it.
In the waiting area, Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) sought updates from Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) on whether Abe’s memories would return.
Kayla was hopeful, but she couldn’t make any promises since it was possible the damage would be permanent.
That said, Kayla felt that Abe would benefit from spending time with his loved ones.
Theo worried this was karma for almost marrying Ciara Weston (Victoria Konefal) back when she couldn’t remember her love for Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson).
Kayla argued that was a different situation and didn’t think the universe worked like that anyway.
Theo was a good person with a kind heart, so Kayla reassured him about that.
Next on Thursday’s Days episode, Theo joined Abe and Paulina. That led to Abe confusing Theo for his other son, Brandon Walker.
Paulina explained that Whitley hired Jerry Prentiss (Terrell Ransom Jr.) to pretend to be Theo, so Abe thought that made sense considering he saw Jerry’s name on Body and Soul’s credits.
When Lani appeared, Abe remembered how she came to his rescue and that she’d said she was his daughter.
Eli introduced himself after joining the others and hugged Abe since they were all so glad to have him back.
Abe learned he had grandchildren before Paulina showed him a picture of the twins, so he was pleased to see them.
Lani kept things vague about why she had to leave in a hurry, but she promised she’d come back soon.
After Lani said her goodbyes to Abe, Paulina and Theo, she got on the elevator to leave with Sam and Eli.
Back at the police station on Thursday’s Days episode, Paulina barged in the interrogation room and confronted Whitley.
Although Whitley was apologetic, Paulina slapped her across the face and made it clear that an “I’m sorry” wouldn’t undo all the damage.
Marlena forced Paulina to leave as Whitley sat there looking distraught over all the pain she’d caused.
At the Salem Inn, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) tried to shut down his affair with Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte), but the sight of Dimitri in his underwear proved too tempting.
Dimitri and Leo pulled apart right as Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) entered, so she took one look at Dimitri in his undies and demanded to know what was going on.
After Dimitri started getting dressed again, he insisted there was a reasonable explanation for this.
Leo quickly piped up that Dimitri didn’t have a proper suit for the wedding, but Gwen acted like he had plenty.
However, Leo argued that Dimitri needed something with pizazz and explained that he’d convinced the groom to try one of his suits on.
Gwen wasn’t buying it and assumed Leo just wanted to see Dimitri in his underwear.
Leo pretended Gwen was right and apologized to Dimitri for the ploy, so Dimitri acted like it was fine and shook Leo’s hand.
Dimitri finished getting dressed and insisted he couldn’t wait to make Gwen his wife tomorrow, so Leo looked uncomfortable as they shared a warm moment.
Since it was getting late, Gwen opted to stay in for a pre-wedding celebration with Leo instead of returning to the office as planned.
After Dimitri left, Gwen gushed over her imminent marriage and knew she couldn’t have gone through with it without Leo’s blessing.
Leo seemed upset, so Gwen suggested he’d find the perfect guy and live happily ever after like her one day.
At the DiMera mansion, Dimitri told himself that he could go through with the fake marriage and get his inheritance, but he saw no reason why he had to give up Leo.
