Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, April 5, reveals that Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) lied to Abe Carver (James Reynolds) over the phone about where she was.
Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) overheard as he joined Paulina in her exam room at the hospital, but he assured Paulina that she didn’t owe him an explanation. Even so, Paulina wanted to explain and argued that she just didn’t want Abe to worry about her.
Tripp was filling in for Paulina’s cardiologist, who was in surgery and asked Tripp to do her initial workup. Once Tripp saw the results, he didn’t see anything alarming and suggested a panic attack had perhaps truly been the cause of her symptoms.
The conversation turned to Tripp’s love life, so she pushed him to ask Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) on a date. Tripp insisted he liked Chanel as a friend, but Paulina thought they could be more than friendly – unless there was somewhere else.
After Tripp admitted he was interested in Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace), Paulina pushed him to tell Wendy how he felt or else he could end up regretting it for a very long time. Tripp also encouraged Paulina to tell Abe the truth about her hospital visit and the reason for it, so she decided she would.
At the Salem PD, DA Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) once again hounded Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) about the case he was trying to build against Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty). If Sloan came after them with a lawsuit, Trask acted like he’d be on his own.
In the park on Wednesday’s Days episode, Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) met up with EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and revealed that he caught Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) in bed with Melinda, not Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus).
EJ realized Stefan had pulled a fast one, so Li fumed about Stefan and Gabi being onto them. After Li wondered why he’d agreed to partner up with EJ in the first place, he pointed out that he didn’t want to humiliate Gabi or torpedo the deal.
Li still wanted to be with Gabi, but EJ ranted about how Li had no chance of saving his trainwreck of a marriage. Since EJ only cared about the shares, Li warned him not to make a move against his relationship with Gabi or else he’d regret it.
At the DiMera mansion, Stefan gave Nicole updates on Li barging in and finding him in bed with Melinda. Soon after, Melinda joined Stefan and said that wild horses couldn’t keep her away after last night.
Stefan and Melinda kept making out on the sofa while Nicole quizzed them about this romantic development. However, Stefan hinted that it’d been building for quite some time – like a geyser that had finally blown.
As for Gabi, Stefan pretended that she only cared about keeping the shares, so he suggested he finally wised up and moved on.
Once Stefan led Melinda upstairs, EJ joined Nicole. After Nicole and EJ compared notes, Nicole pointed out that Melinda was up in Stefan’s bedroom.
EJ assumed Stefan and Melinda were putting on an act, but Nicole wasn’t so sure. After Stefan asked Melinda for help as a diversion, she played cards on the bed and called out like she was making love.
That gave Nicole and EJ a chance to listen to Melinda’s steamy sounds through the door.
At home, Wendy broke the news to Gabi about Stefan and Melinda since she read it in Leo Stark’s (Greg Rikaart) column. Gabi downplayed things and acted like no one should believe what Lady Whistleblower published.
To get Wendy talking about something else, Gabi quizzed her about her feelings for Tripp. Wendy acted like it was a simple case of fun flirting, but Gabi gave her a nudge in Tripp’s direction.
Afterward on Wednesday’s Days episode, Gabi got a text and told Li that it involved her Saxton’s pitch, but Li was skeptical. Despite Gabi’s claim of heading to the bistro, Li showed up and realized she wasn’t there.
Back at the DiMera mansion, Stefan created a romantic setup for Gabi – including a bed covered in rose petals and a candlelight dinner. Once Gabi showed up, she pounced on Stefan immediately and began kissing him passionately.
In the town square on Wednesday’s DOOL show, Abe briefly interacted with Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) before joining Rafe at the police station. That led to Abe questioning Rafe about his feelings for Jada and whether anything romantic was going on.
Rafe assured Abe that he understood the rules about dating his employee and wasn’t seeing Jada. That was relief for Abe since his hands were tied and he couldn’t change this rule.
Abe also met up with Paulina, who confessed that she lied over the phone earlier and had actually been in the hospital.
Next on Wednesday’s Days episode, Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian) grilled Jada about her feelings for Rafe, but Jada shut down the idea of dating him due to the policy.
At the pub, Jada and Talia were having dinner together when Rafe walked in. Talia invited Rafe to join them and acted like it was fine since she was there as a third wheel.
Once Rafe sat down, Talia made an excuse about needing to make a phone call and took her plate with her. That gave Jada and Rafe a chance to be alone, but things remained awkward.
