General Hospital Recap: Wednesday, August 9 – Portia Sabotages Spencer & Trina’s Romance

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 9, reveals that Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was furious over a senator being acquitted on all counts, so Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) took her to the ax throwing club to blow off some steam.

Gregory eventually needed a break due to his ALS symptoms and became distraught over how everything changed after his diagnosis.

Alexis hugged Gregory before he opened up about how he’d been canceling on Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) more to avoid giving away his symptoms.

Although Alexis thought Gregory could at least tell Finn the truth since he was a doctor, Finn didn’t want to be a burden to him.

In Olivia Quartermaine’s (Lisa LoCicero) office, she got a visit from Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).

Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) showed up to thank Olivia for this morning, but she suggested they could talk another time.

Once Nina left, Olivia gave Carly updates on her offer to help with Nina and Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) wedding as a distraction.

Olivia also revealed that Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) wanted to have “Eddie Maine” aka Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) committed and said he suddenly disappeared.

Carly wondered how she could help, but Olivia asked how Carly could even make that offer after the way she treated her.

Olivia was apologetic, but Carly understood that her bestie simply snapped during a crisis and assured her that she could take it.

After Carly and Olivia talked about when they first met, some flashbacks played of their friendship over the years.

Carly opened up about how helpless she felt with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) in prison and eventually convinced Olivia they should go do something fun.

At GH, Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) played Go Fish with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), who was worried that heading to the rehab facility was like announcing to the world that he’d given up hope of ever walking again.

Marshall argued that Curtis could take the next recovery step and still hold out hope for the future. In the meantime, Marshall reminded Curtis that he didn’t have to go through this struggle alone.

Although Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) was determined to support Curtis, he admitted that just seeing her reminded him of the life they’d never have together. Curtis felt that just made things worse.

Meanwhile, Portia was thrilled when Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) moved home, but she definitely wasn’t thrilled about Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) helping move her stuff.

In a moment alone with Spencer, Portia insisted she could take it from here and expressed concern over him being connected to people like Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Spencer insisted he was nothing like Sonny or Victor, but Portia argued that he wasn’t exactly a saint either.

Although Spencer acknowledged his track record, he assured Portia that he wanted Trina to be safe and happy.

Spencer eventually suggested he could say goodbye to Trina and take off, but Portia felt there was no need to say goodbye in person.

Once Spencer left, Portia gave Trina the news of his abrupt departure and acted like he was probably thinking about his baby brother.

After Trina pointed out that house wasn’t handicap accessible, she asked if Portia would make adjustments and questioned if this was really the best place for Curtis.

Portia mentioned that Curtis would be in the rehab facility for a month, which gave her some time to prepare. Unfortunately, Portia couldn’t even be sure Curtis would come home since he hadn’t agreed to that yet.

After Trina admitted to feeling sad and disconnected from Curtis, she said she wanted to see him. Trina added that she missed her mom, so Portia hugged her and said she missed her, too.

At the PCPD, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) spoke to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) about the incident at the Metro Court pool, which led to questions about what Sonny and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) were talking about before somebody fired at one of them.

Dante mentioned the WSB hints related to the case before Jordan showed up to see Curtis at the hospital.

Jordan confirmed that although she was the new deputy mayor, she was still a cop at heart and had a personal stake in this.

If anything came back to Curtis about what happened that day at the pool, she got him to agree that he’d let her know.

At Sonny’s penthouse, he finished a movie with Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears) before she fell asleep.

That gave Sonny a chance to catch the big fight on TV, so he called Dante about it and learned he was recording it to watch later.

Once Nina came home, she mentioned her encounter with Carly when she went to Olivia’s office.

Sonny and Nina needed to pick a firm wedding date, but they wound up getting frisky and put that task off until tomorrow.

General Hospital spoilers say Nina and Sonny’s nuptials could blow up in a big way if that’s when her SEC secret gets revealed.
