General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the news of Cameron Webber’s (William Lipton) departure could be a game-changer for Esme Prince’s (Avery Pohl) storyline. Esme is going to need another love interest eventually, but she can’t be with Cameron if he’s off playing soccer at Stanford.
Many GH fans suspected the show might try to pair amnesiac Esme up with Cameron eventually.
If the writers truly want to redeem Esme, she’s going to need more people who believe in the changes she’s made.
Cameron could’ve been one of those people if he’d stuck around for a long-term story.
Since Cam is newly single and holding a grudge over Josslyn Jacks’ (Eden McCoy) cheating, it would’ve created some good drama if he started falling for Esme.
However, the show will have to pivot in a different direction since Cameron is apparently headed off canvas.
There’s no universe where Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) would ever take Esme back, especially when he’s finally got his dream girl.
Spencer is thrilled to be with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and hates Esme’s guts since their relationship was never real in the first place.
In other words, it seems safe to rule out the idea of Spencer and Esme ever having any kind of romance again.
Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), on the other hand, could be a clean-slate love interest for Esme if the show chooses to go there. Josslyn and Dex have some serious obstacles headed their way, so there’s no guarantee they’ll survive the chaos as a solid couple.
There could be a split from Joss or at least enough strain for Dex to consider someone else.
Esme would love the chance to steal Josslyn’s man, so could a love triangle be brewing?
There’s a chance Dex might end up in prison with Esme if his Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) takedown plot goes wrong.
Then again, maybe Dex and Esme could bond once she’s free instead.
Since Dex is the ultimate rescue ranger, there might even be a situation or two where he saves Esme from danger.
Of course, Esme hasn’t had a paternity test done, so that presents an interesting opportunity as well.
It’d be a great twist if an offscreen Esme and Dex hookup resulted in him being the father of her baby instead.
Regardless, it seems likely that Esme will join Dex and Josslyn for a love triangle at some point.
With Cameron out of the picture, that’d be the most logical romantic direction for Esme to go in.
