General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) relationship may not be as solid as it seems. Ever since Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) began his feud with his father, the real issue has always been Sonny putting Nina over his family.
Michael was furious when he found out Nina kept quiet about Sonny’s survival in Nixon Falls. Since Sonny ultimately forgave Nina and moved forward with her romantically, that was a terrible betrayal in Michael’s eyes.
Sonny also supported the idea of Nina being in Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos’ (Viron Weaver) life, so that was another source of conflict. Michael clearly feels like Sonny puts Nina first time and time again.
However, Michael and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) have now forced Sonny into a situation where he’s putting his family over Nina. Sonny agreed to attend Willow and Michael’s wedding despite knowing how heartbroken Nina was about her own lack of invitation.
Could this be a warning sign about the path ahead? Sometimes small acts can become bigger deals as time goes on, so the show might be laying the groundwork for a Nina and Sonny split.
That’s especially true since the writers have been writing in more Sonny and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) interactions lately. If the plan is to reunite Carly and Sonny at some point, maybe Nina will drift toward an ex of her own.
Nina shared some heartfelt scenes with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) in the April 18 episode, so Sonny couldn’t help but notice! Since Sonny gawked at the former flames, maybe we should pay attention to the connection that Valentin and Nina still share.
Nina could find herself more and more drawn to Valentin if Sonny starts to feel distant. The more Michael and Carly pull Sonny back in their direction, the easier it’ll be for Nina to seek comfort elsewhere.
Of course, Valentin seems completely devoted to Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) right now, especially since she just survived a scary brush with death.
Even so, Valentin will never be able to shake his deep feelings for Nina completely, so some temptation could bubble up between them down the road. That’s particularly true if Anna lands in more danger since Valentin could start to feel like they’re doomed.
There’s the potential for a Nina and Valentin cheating storyline at some point in the months ahead. All the drama with Sonny and his family could easily push Nina into risky territory with Valentin.
On the other hand, temptation doesn’t always mean surrendering to it. There could just as easily be a false cheating alarm, but the point is Nina still sparkles in her scenes with Valentin and – and GH writers may want to take advantage of that!
