General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Baldwin) recently decided to weigh on social media after seeing some comments about the size of the babies being used on the show. It’s easy to see that they’re pretty large for the age they’re actually supposed to be.
Of course, some fans are doing the reasonable thing and simply having a good laugh about it!
The appropriate response here is to just appreciate the cute babies and chuckle every time a character talks about how tiny they are.
However, some viewers have gotten a little testy about the situation when it’s a legitimate safety issue.
There’s no need in putting especially young infants at risk when they don’t have to, so Rebecca Herbst set the record straight with some news on Twitter.
When one fan basically called out the complainers and pointed out the alternative was using dolls as stand-ins, Herbst backed him up.
There’s a very good reason why GH is casting older babies and passing them off as newborns.
“Just to confirm what you’re saying…the rules have changed since COVID,” Herbst tweeted. “#GH is no longer comfortable having infants under the age of 3 months on set. I know it’s hard to look past a ginormous newborn, but I applaud #GH for this decision. And we got Baby Ace out of it…a win/win!”
Ace Cassadine and Amelia Corinthos (Nathan and Owen Ford) are adorable, so Rebecca Herbst ultimately responded to another viewer’s comment and acknowledged them both.
“Yes! Let’s not forget about Baby Amelia! #GH hit the jackpot of cuteness with Ace & Amelia!” Herbst said in a follow-up tweet.
From a writing standpoint, you could argue it wasn’t the best idea to do a premature baby story with Ameila and have her in the NICU, but it seemed like the writers tried to brush past this issue quickly since Amelia was perfectly healthy.
Now cutie Ace has been given a clean bill of health as well, so it’s best to just enjoy all the bright-eyed smiley babies and be grateful we aren’t watching people gush over dolls or rolled-up blankets.
