General Hospital preview video spoilers for the week of Monday, January 30 through Friday, February 3 tease joy, fear and despair as Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) undergoes a caesarian section.
There is joy as Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) gives hope, fear as Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) worries and despair as Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) appears outside the operating room in tears. GH titles the preview video ‘Two Lives Hang In The Balance’ so we know desperate times are here.
General Hospital Spoilers: Joy
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was devastated when her genetic markers weren’t right to give a bone marrow transplant to Willow, and they thought she was out of options.
But Dr. Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) gave new hope when she offered an option for a stem cell transplant from the baby’s cord blood and placenta.
Sonny has obviously learned of this development from Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) who briefly opened up to his father, and relays the news to Nina.
Sonny tells Nina that there may be a way to save Willow’s life, and explains the procedure to Nina, which involved Willow having a c-section to deliver the baby early. Nina is obviously thrilled and joyful, but could something go wrong at the last minute?
GH Spoilers: Fear
Elsewhere, there is fear as Josslyn worries about Willow and the procedure to Dex Heller (Evan Hofer).
She worries to Dex what will happen if Willow doesn’t wake up from the operation-after all, there are always risks when anesthesia is used.
Joss is almost in tears herself as she thinks about all the things that could go wrong, even though if successful, it could save Willow’s life.
Willow is in end stage leukemia and the stem cell transplant appears to be her only option, unless a matching bone marrow donor shows up out of nowhere.
Josslyn herself would not be able to donate, having received a kidney transplant although others in their circle have been tested.
General Hospital Spoilers: Despair
Carly appears to be in despair outside an operating room at GH as Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) approaches her, asking if Willow had a setback.
It takes a lot to make Carly cry, and she is crying and fearful.
It seems that hope is turning to despair behind the operating room doors after Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) prepares Willow for surgery-could there be a bad anesthesia reaction?
A female voice cries out, “WILLOW” as she appears to be unconscious in the OR but not reviving.
If Willow stops breathing for even a few minutes both she and the baby could die, because oxygen would be cut off to the baby!
