In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, the hospital welcomed the news that two of their own were nominated for a prestigious award. The Catherine Fox Award was the highest honor within the medical community. It made the hospital looked great that two of their own could possibly win it.

Nick was nominated and so was Winston. Nick did extensive work with genotype donations. Winston pulled off an amazing cardiac surgery with his ex-wife. Maggie was also technically nominated only she’s now doing research. She also was no longer connected to the hospital. And so the only ones that remain proud of her happened to be her family.

Still, this looks good for the hospital. They have twice as much opportunities than everyone else in the competition to win the award. It also didn’t hurt that they were a Catherine Fox Foundation hospital.

They also have Richard as Catherine Fox’s husband working in their favor. The whole hospital needed this win after the lost year. They lost their surgical interns. They got them back however they weren’t as good as previous classes. They kind of took the bottom of the barrel with this class.

They had no other choice with picking these people. They were coming back from a poor rating from the accreditation council. They also have quite a few interns that have died on them and so this new class was supposed to be turning a new page. They have their traditional legacy.

That was Lucas. They have the struggling doctor. That was Mika. They have the genius. That was Simone. The rebel. That was Jules. They also have the class clown. That was Blue. They each have a part to play and they all stood out in their own way.

There was also a possibility that Helm could be coming back. Her teachers failed her when she was an intern at the hospital. Richard now sees that he failed her and he was working on bringing her back into the fold. Things haven’t gotten back to the way they were between her and Mika.

Mika was still upset with Helm for putting her business out there. It ended up working in Mika’s favor. She was able to get a grant. This gave her the chance to quit her second job. She can now focus on being a doctor and so Mika has a lot to thank Helm for.

She also has a lot to say against Helm. Helm put her own trauma on Mika. Mika told Helm that she needed to be mad at her for a minute. Only Mika does need a plus-one for Simone’s wedding. The only one not going to the wedding was Lucas. Lucas and Simone had a quick thing that ended when she got back together with her boyfriend. Simone knew well enough she couldn’t be mad at Lucas for not wanting to be a part of her wedding. They still remained friends, but she understood tension and she told Mika that it doesn’t hurt to make the first move.

The interns were all dealing with various patients. Mika was put in charge of Sam. Sam was the guy that broke every bone in his body and he was using his post-op time to flirt with Jo. He even said she has the eyes of a Disney princess. Blue traded duties with Jules because Jules wanted to remain with her elderly roommate, Max. Max suffered a neurological event. Jules was eventually taken off of her case because she was too close to the patient. The patient was her stand-in grandmother. Max has given her all the love in the world.

Max was also elderly. She knew she didn’t have a lot of time left and so she tried to ask Blue to look after Jules. She confessed that Jules didn’t grow up with a lot of love. Meanwhile Lucas was working with Ray. Ray was twenty-nine years old. He had his whole life ahead of him and he never got to enjoy it because he was afraid of taking risks. His father died before his thirtieth birthday. He wanted to at least to make it to thirty himself. Its why he didn’t want to do the surgery to fix his heart and it was Lucas who talked him into the surgery.

Lucas was trying to help only Ray later died in surgery. Losing a patient is never easy. He struggled with this death because he was the one that convinced Ray he would be safe with the surgery. And he was wrong. He was wrong about a lot of things. He wrote himself off as dumb and he never argued against anyone that thought to call him lazy and the whole time he has ADHD. He was now getting treatment. He was making less mistakes. He owes his bright future to Nick and he was rooting for Nick to win the award.

Lucas told Nick that he was rooting for him. Nick hadn’t wanted to go to the award ceremony because he was afraid of running into Meredith in Boston and now hearing how much he meant to Lucas – he decided to get over himself. He was heading to the award ceremony. Mika also saw that Sam has practically got himself a date from his hospital bed. And that gave her the courage to ask out Helm.

Helm was returning to the hospital as Co-Chief Intern. She was about to become Mika’s boss and she still said yes because the date would take place before she starts working.

Max was on the road to recovery, but Lucas told Simone that he still has feelings for her wedding and her wedding was in a couple of days.

THE END!
