The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will need someone to lean on following the death of his baby girl, especially since Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will hold him responsible.
In the June 16 episode, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) is forced to present Adam with two terrible options, so Adam chooses to save Sally over the baby since he can only save one.
Since Sally will lash out at Adam over his choice in the aftermath, Y&R might take this storyline in a surprising direction.
Instead of Adam bonding with Sally over the loss, she’ll push him away initially.
That could change later, but Adam will be torn apart in the meantime.
Since Adam will be dealing with so much guilt, it’s easy to imagine Elena consoling him and insisting this wasn’t his fault.
Elena lands in situations with life-or-death consequences every day, so she’ll understand how Adam feels better than just about anyone.
Of course, Elena will wish she could’ve given Adam and Sally the happy ending they wanted, but sometimes things happen with medical conditions that are beyond the control of any doctor.
This is one of those times, so Adam certainly won’t blame Elena for doing everything she could to help.
Elena is dealing with some heartache of her own since Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) cheated on her and is now in a romance with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).
Although Elena’s pain isn’t at the same level as what Adam is facing, she could still relate to feeling lonely and vulnerable.
Since Elena and Adam are both single, there’s the potential for them to come together as a new pairing.
It’s tough to buy Adam and Elena being a true love match since they’re so different, but that’s not what they need from each other right now anyway.
All Elena and Adam need is another compassionate soul to connect with during a difficult time.
Perhaps Adam and Elena will hook up as they both struggle with emotional turmoil. Elena and Adam could at least land in bed together once or twice – just for the sake of feeling something again.
That doesn’t mean Adam and Elena will become some epic love story, but they could perhaps help each other through this dramatic chapter of their lives.
Y&R could use some romantic updates and pairing shakeups, so maybe Elena and Adam will find themselves pulled together through heartbreak.
