The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers indicate that a very special episode is coming up in memory of Jerry Douglas and his brilliant run as John Abbott. John may have passed on like his portrayer, but neither of them have been forgotten due to the legacy they left behind.
Y&R celebrated its 50th anniversary earlier this year, but they’ll keep the celebration going by remembering this amazing actor and the pivotal role John played within his family.
The Abbott patriarch was a strong leader who loved his children fiercely, so that love is still felt today by Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) and anyone else whose life was touched by John.
As for when this John and Jerry Douglas tribute will air, fans can catch it on Thursday, June 22. That’ll be something to look forward to and will provide a little breather from all the typical drama in Genoa City.
Of course, there’ll be tons of John flashbacks with some of Douglas’ most memorable performances over the years.
Whether you’re a newer viewer or an older one, it’ll be nice to see some reminders of John and how he shaped the Abbott clan.
There’ll also be a special guest star, so everyone will want to give a warm welcome to Jerry Douglas’ late wife, Kym Douglas, who’ll be playing a character named Zelda Wilford.
It turns out Zelda has a significant connection to the Abbott brood, so it’ll be interesting to see how she fits in the story.
Kym Douglas is an author and a television personality, so she should have no problem bringing a great screen presence in her scenes as Zelda.
Since there’s so much turmoil happening within the family right now, Jack and Ashley could use a lesson in what it means to be an Abbott!
John wouldn’t want to see this vicious sibling rivalry, so maybe this tribute will lead to Ashley and Jack making peace.
