The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) both have new love stories cooking up, but are they in the right ones? Let’s take a closer look at the couples that the show’s building and consider if there are better options.
For a while, it seemed like Chelsea and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) might be working toward a love story of their own.
Y&R at least did some chemistry testing and let Chelsea bond with Chance a bit.
Of course, the show later pivoted to Chance and Sharon following the end of his marriage to Abby Newman-Abbott (Melissa Ordway).
Unfortunately, it’s tough to see much of a spark between Sharon and Chance beyond friendship.
Chance and Sharon are perfectly fine as pals, but their connection may struggle to cross over into steamy territory when the time comes.
It seems like Y&R has a habit of saddling Sharon with boring nice guys when she could use someone who’s more of a challenge.
Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) would perhaps be a better fit for Sharon – not to mention they’d arguably have more chemistry.
It would also save fans from what Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) once referred to as “The Billy and Chelsea Show.”
These Chelsea and Billy scenes have gotten pretty repetitive at this point.
It’s great that Billy came to Chelsea’s rescue when she needed him most, but maybe she needs someone else as a love interest.
It’s another situation where Billy and Chelsea work better as friends than lovers.
Between their complicated history and their mutual mental health struggles, there are good reasons for Chelsea and Billy to avoid making things messier.
Naturally, the writers have sometimes been known to shift gears unexpectedly when something isn’t working.
It’s possible there’ll be some story updates and couple shakeups along the way.
Could that ultimately be the case with Chance and Sharon? What about Billy and Chelsea?
