Days Of Our Lives Alum Jensen Ackles Cast As Justin Hartley’s Brother On 'Tracker'

Tracker is set to introduce another character to fans on the show very soon; a character that’s already been mentioned, as actor Jensen Ackles joins the cast as Colter’s brother, Russell Shaw.

Jensen got his big break playing Eric Brady on the soap Days of Our Lives (DOOL) in the late ‘90s. Other acting credits include Dawson’s Creek and Smallville; however, he’s best known for his role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural from 2005 to 2020. He’s since appeared in Blue Sky, The Boys, and Gen V.

Justin Hartley Makes The Big Announcement On Social Media, With Some Humor

Justin Hartley, who plays the lead character in Tracker, Colter Shaw (and is Executive Producer for the show), announced Jensen joining the cast, on his Instagram handle.

Hartley starts the video off on his own, walking around a room, and talking, while a loud clicking noise can be heard in the background. He notes, “First of all, thank you, everybody, for watching the show. We’ve had a great time making it, it’s been a great response, and we’re thrilled, we’re over the moon, and I have a little bit of news for you.”

Hartley goes on to say, (as he is walking), “We’ve been talking about Russell Shaw, my brother, and all season this family drama that’s been going on between Colter and Russell, we finally came up with what I think is the perfect casting choice. This person knocks it out of the park every time. Knocks it out of the park every time …”

In the background, a voice can be heard screaming, “Yes! S**t!”, Before Ackles’ face is revealed, playing a video arcade game, Justin ends the video, noting “We agreed to do this together but he’s in the middle of something.”

Ackles stops playing the arcade game, and both he and Hartley end the video, smiling.

The Shaw Kids Are All Coming Together

Tracker has had a solid first season, and fans have heard about both of Colter’s siblings. From the sounds of it, the trio will come together, (at some point), as Hartley also recently announced via Instagram that actress Melissa Roxburgh would be playing his sister, Dory, on the show.

There are only a few more new shows until Tracker, Season 1 wraps up, so it’ll be interesting to see the dynamics that both Dory and Russell bring to the drama.
