Detective Stabler stumbled upon a serial killer. This guy was hunting out in Long Island. He abducts women and he tortures them for a couple of days before he ultimately kills them. Stabler only found out about him because the perp abducted someone he thought he had saved. He found out when Rita went missing. Her friend reported it. He went looking for Rita right afterwards. He hadn’t found her in time to save her, but he found Christine Olston. He saved her. He also brought police to that area. They searched that area. They exhumed the bodies of nine other victims. Victims they didn’t even know about until Stabler came banging down their door. And now Westbrooke police were trying to protect themselves.

When it was just Rita that was missing, they didn’t want to investigate it. They threatened Stabler to leave town. He ignored them and he brought in his own team from the city. They were the ones that came close to finding this serial killer. They stopped him from claiming another victim. They saved Christine. It was because of them that the teenage Christine got to return home to her parents. It didn’t look good for the Westbrooke Police that a bunch of city cops uncovered a grave site while they were playing poker with a bunch of big wigs.

The Westbrooke Police were also quick to seal the Medical Examiner’s report. Stabler called Jet to see if she could hack them and uncover those reports. Jet used their time on the phone to remind him of his appointment with Internal Affairs. Stabler barely bothered to pay attention to that part. He quickly hung up. He also visited Christine at the hospital. Christine met her abductor at the party. The one thrown at the fancy mansion that every big wig goes to. Christine took a waiter job there. She walked out on it once she saw what kind of party it really was.

Christine was going home when a ringing came from her pocket. Someone had put a burner phone in her pocket without her noticing. He called. She answered. He said he wasn’t really into that scene at the house. He also could tell Christine wasn’t either. He charmed her. He talked to her like a friend. He asked to meet one night and Chrstine had just gotten into a fight with her mom. She had something to prove by going out that night. She and her mystery guy agreed to meet up in the back of the diner. And that was the last thing Christine remembered before waking up in the bunker.

Westbrooke Police Chief Bonner reached out to Stabler after he spoke with Christine. She wanted his eyes on the case. She introduced him to the Medical Examiner. They went over the wounds found on the three most recent victims. They all were strangled, but they had signs of stigmata on them. The signs of Jesus Christ had when he was killed by the Romans. There were the holes through the feet and hands. There was stab wound to the abdomen. The serial killer was a true believer. He thought he was sacrificing the pure of soul.

The serial killer was also taunting the cops. He left a question of can they catch him? He said he’d only stop if they stop him. The only thing the cops know about their killer was that he hunts at Noah Cahill’s parties. One of the victims had recorded video of one such party. Jet was identifying every man at the party. Something that Chief Bonner didn’t like. She said these men were pillars of the community. She still wants a community after everything was done. She didn’t want Stabler to drag good people through the mud.

All the while secretly Bonner talked to her dad about her brother, Eric. Eric went to the parties at the house. She was worried her brother might be involved and her dad reassured her that it was just the once. Their conversation was interrupted when Chief Bonner got called into work. Her team found something in the bunker. They found a key fob from the local yacht club there. Cahill was a part of the club. He also threw the parties when the killer met his victims. The police had Cahill come down for questioning. And they were interrupted by Judge Clay Bonner.

Clay Bonner holds a lot of power in their small town. His daughter does everything he says. Its why he put her in as Police Chief. He also had the power to stop an interrogation. Especially into their District Attorney. Cahill was the DA. The other men at the party were councilmen and politicians. The judge didn’t want to upend how they do things to find a serial killer. Then Rita’s friend Heidi disappeared. She was the one that brought in Stabler after Rita went missing. And Heidi was staying with Jet because they thought it would be too unsafe for her to stay alone.

Jet left the apartment because she was ordered to escort Stabler to his IAB interrogation. Those few minutes she was gone was enough for the killer to grab Heidi. Stabler finished up his meeting. He contacted Chief Bonner. They went looking for Cahill when they found him dead at his party house. He had shot himself or so it seems. It was his gun. There was no evidence of anyone else being in the house. The cops were looking for Heidi and the Chief said that Cahill made a big thing out of buying a party boat.

They later found an alive Heidi on the party boat. She had been tied up and blindfolded but they found her alive. She never saw her abductor’s face or heard his voice. Which led everyone to believe that the case was over. They thought Cahill was the guy and that he killed himself. Thereby ending the case. It was just Chief Bonner and Stabler that didn’t believe Cahill was their killer. It seems the killer was in fact Chief Bonner’s brother Eric. And their father covered it up by killing Cahill. Not that anyone other than them knows the truth.

Meanwhile Detective Reyes was going on leave for three months. He needed to get his head right. He and his wife were getting a divorce and he wanted to be there for his children. Jet asked if she could do anything for him. He told her that she could be a friend after he gets his head right.
