Michael Conway fell off a platform right as a train pulled in. He was killed instantly. It took the police two days before they ruled Michael’s death a suicide and his wife was refusing to believe it. She thought the case was rushed. She also felt her husband would never have killed himself. It took them years to get pregnant. They finally did a year ago. They now have a beautiful baby girl named after Michael’s mother and so why would he commit suicide? They have everything they ever wanted. Her husband was the hottest real estate developer in the city. They were well off. Sara turned to Robyn McCall because she needed answers.

Robyn agreed to help. She and her team began looking into Michael’s death. There were surveillance cameras down in the subway. Michael’s fall wasn’t clear. It didn’t show him jump or be pushed. It did show the few minutes after the fall. There was a crowd down there. Everyone was looking to see if Michael survived. There was just one guy who never looked back. He seemed to be blind. Mel thought that was no excuse. She said human reaction would cause anyone to look back after they heard a commotion.

Harry also didn’t find any video of this blind man leaving the subway station. He shows up down there. He never leaves or gets onto the train. Mel and him figured maybe the man could still be found at the subway station. Lots of homeless people live down. They went looking for him. He put up a fight when Mel got close. She had to take him down, but she did confirm he was in fact blind and Harry soon learned why this man tried to fight them. This man had stolen Michael’s wallet prior to his fall. He probably didn’t stop because he couldn’t afford to get caught for theft.

The blind man was Clay Johnson. He was a hustler. He lived down in the subway. He steals from the rich. He could tell by the leather soles of their shoes and he was former military. Clay could tell from his fight with Mel that she was a well-trained sniper. He could tell Detective Dante was a boxer. He knew right away to fear Robyn. He was good. He wasn’t telling the full truth. He was still holding onto a few secrets. The only thing he would admit to knowing was that he heard a taser gun before Michael fell.

Robyn pretended to be a journalist when she later interviewed Michael’s business partner, Hunter. The guy was overseas at the time of Michael’s death. He just got back and he thought like the cops. He thought it was suicide. The partner said that Michael was putting together a deal to build housing for the homeless. It was supposed to be the biggest settlement for them ever. Only the deal fell through. Michael had even texted his partner the words “I’m Sorry” right before he died. His partner was a friend. He thought maybe Michael had gotten overwhelmed.

Michael wasn’t always rich. He grew up in a single parent household in Hell’s Kitchen. He was a firm believer in working hard to achieve goals and that’s another reason why his wife didn’t think he would kill himself. Not after everything he achieved. Robyn came to think the same. She found out that Michael had made a huge purchase. It was supposed to be delivered after his supposed jump from the train platform. This along with Clay hearing a taser indicated that Michael was murdered. And that he didn’t kill himself.

Clay was released. Mel tried to follow him. She found out that Clay hadn’t just taken Michael’s wallet. He also stole a thumb drive and he somehow found out it held important information. Clay wanted money to hand over that thumb driver to a mystery person. Whoever he was negotiating with was playing hard ball. Clay later realized he was being followed by Mel and he pulled a disappearing act. He was off the grid. He didn’t return to his hidden room in the subways. Harry thought he might have gone to see his daughter, Rene.

Clay sends his disability check to his daughter’s apartment. He doesn’t have a fixed abode. He also felt guilty about not being there for his family and he makes sure that they get the checks. Before either Mel or Robyn could visit the daughter, they learned something else. They learned that Michael was in contact with a reporter before he died. Robyn also learned this reporter bought a one way ticket to Spain that leaves that night. Robyn went to the reporter’s home hoping to get answers. She instead finds the reporter dead. She was the second victim in a now double-homicide.

Robyn had to call Detective Dante in. Dante was quick to answer her call, but he had to warn her that their working relationship has to be a secret. His new captain didn’t like him working with a vigilante. Captain Watkins was a rule follower all the way through. She didn’t think the vigilante should be able to use NYPD as backup whenever she chose. She told him to pick a side. He’s pretending he chose her when he really he continues to work with Robyn. Dante also has been remembering things he said under the truth serum and he was trying to put on a front of not being embarrassed.

Other than that they did find a chief suspect. His name is Mo Brown. He’s Irish mob. He and his construction company wanted a piece of the homeless construction that was ordered by the city. Michael didn’t want to cut them in on the deal. He was killed. His partner comes back from vacation and his leg gets broken. Hunter lied about Michael’s suicide because he truly fears Mo. He said Michael had collected evidence against the mob. He had it on a thumb drive. He was already dead by time Hunter came back stateside. And so he gave them the reporter’s name to stay alive.

Robyn then started looking for Rene only she was too late. Mo Brown had grabbed Rene to force Clay to hand over the thumb drive. Clay had a brief meeting with Mel before he disappeared again. He admitted he smelled Mo’s imported Irish cologne moments before he heard the taser gun. Mo personally killed Michael himself. Robyn tried to ask him why. He wouldn’t confess to anything. He just said that Michael forgot where he came from. Michael tried to do his business his way rather than the NYC way.

Harry managed to find out where the meeting for the trade off was. Harry cut power to the building. This gave Clay the advantage over Mo and his men. He rescued his daughter himself. He also stole back the thumb drive. By time Mel and Robyn showed, the police were on the scene. They have everything to take down all the corruption. The ones that go back all the way to City Hall. Rene doesn’t want anything to do with her father after this only Clay was used to being on his own. He was just glad to do the right thing.

Later, Sara thanked Robyn for getting Michael justice. She was going to take over his share in the partnership and she and Hunter were going to build the homeless housing. They were going to keep Michael’s dream alive.

And Delilah and Aunt Vi did some sleuthing. They found out someone at a retirement home was stealing from the patients there and they helped bring her down with nothing but internet skills. Delilah was really coming into her own as an investigator.
