The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 31, reveals Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins-Abbott (Susan Walters) will head into the office, where they’ll find Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) has shown up early.
Kyle will already have some work done that Diane was planning on doing this morning, so she’ll seem a bit miffed.
Jack will assure Kyle that he doesn’t have to go above and beyond to prove himself, but Kyle will act like he’s got a lot of past mistakes to make up for.
Diane will express concern to Jack in private about Kyle subtly telling her that he can do her job better than her, but Jack will think she’s reading too much into his behavior.
However, Diane will worry that Kyle isn’t really OK with this co-CEO arrangement.
After Kyle once again tries to take care of a task before Diane can do it, she’ll call him out and wonder if he’s subconsciously trying to send a message about being able to do her job better.
Kyle will apologize if he offended Diane and will insist he only wanted to help.
Diane will worry that she’s upset Kyle, but he’ll highlight the importance of honesty and will hug Diane over working together.
Even so, Kyle will seem pensive as Diane walks away and will eventually ask Jack if he overstepped.
Jack will think Diane’s insecurities are a bigger factor, but he’ll urge Kyle to let her develop into the co-CEO role on her own.
As for Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), she’ll have another conversation with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), who’ll stop by to announce that she’s cleared out her office.
Since Audra won’t be willing to accept the London gig and Nikki won’t be willing to let her stay on as her COO, they’ll agree that nothing has changed and Audra has to go.
Once Audra exits, Nikki will panic to Jack over the phone since she needs Audra’s replacement ASAP.
Jack will need a bit more time to make the arrangements, but he’ll give Nikki a pep talk about handling everything at Newman Media in the meantime.
Next, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will give Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) updates on the fire at Jordan’s (Colleen Zenk) prison facility, so Victoria will worry about not knowing whether Jordan perished or escaped.
Until they know more, Victor will make it clear that they have to assume Jordan’s free and stay on guard.
Since Victor already sent extra security to Memorial’s psych ward for Claire Grace (Hayley Erin), Victoria will be grateful.
As for Nikki, Victor will admit he hasn’t told her about the fire yet, so Victoria and Nick will understand since the threat of Jordan’s getaway could push her over the edge.
That said, Nick will point out that they won’t be able to keep the news under wraps indefinitely.
Victor will also mention that Nikki fired Audra because she found out about her drinking, so Victoria will decide to pay her mom a visit and check on her.
Although Victoria will offer to serve as interim COO until Audra’s replacement is found, Nikki will urge Victoria to focus on Claire and will downplay any concerns.
Later, Nikki will panic when she sees an article on her tablet about the blaze at Jordan’s prison facility. When Nikki realizes Jordan could be free and coming for her, she’ll freak out even further.
Back with Victor, he’ll feel like Nick needs to make time for his personal life, but Nick will insist that he’s got it covered.
As for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) relationship, Nick will tell Victor that they need to just back off.
That might be their best strategy if they want Adam to stay in line.
At Crimson Lights, Victoria will tell Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) about Jordan’s potential prison break, but they’ll agree not to tell Claire until they have all the facts.
Cole and Victoria will end up sharing a tender moment as they touch hands on Wednesday’s Y&R episode.
At Society, Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) will quiz Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) about whether he’s an item with Audra now, but Nate will point out that it’s none of Tucker’s business.
Since Tucker will know Audra’s up to something, he’ll insist he’s onto her and will warn that Nate can’t beat him either if he decides to throw in her game.
That said, Tucker will eventually hint that maybe Nate should come on board at Glissade, but Nate will refuse and act like Audra’s washed her hands of Tucker for good.
When Audra pops up, Tucker will lie that Nate’s thinking about joining them, so Audra will ask if that’s true. Nate will confirm that it isn’t before Audra joins Tucker outside.
After Audra pushes Tucker to agree she’s back in, he’ll surrender – mostly because he needs to figure out what she’s plotting.
Audra will pretend she just wants to take Glissade to the top, but he’ll remain suspicious of her motives.
Back inside, Nate will warn Audra not to get tangled up with Tucker again since she’ll be setting herself up for a huge fall.
Audra will feel like Nate underestimating her and will ultimately suggest he can just get out of her way as she conquers her goal.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Audra could be gearing up for major trouble, so stay tuned!
