Dr. Lenox has found one impressive way to ignore therapy. She’s now engaging in no strings attached booty calls. She even hooked up with the deliveryman and she was hoping no one would find out about it, but then her brother intruded one morning. Kip wanted their mom’s ring. He wanted to propose to his girlfriend. He really changed his life around once he learned that he wasn’t going to die of the same disease that killed their mom. He got a job. It makes him wear a suit and he doesn’t complain about it.
Kip now wakes up before noon. He maintained a monogamous relationship. He’s actually in a much better place mentally than his sister. Dr. Lenox kept the fact that she had the disease to herself. Its just her doctors that know. She didn’t want to worry Kip. She internalized it like she does with everything else. She was partaking in risky behavior and not just with hookups. She stared down a gunman the other day not carrying if she lives or dies. She has nothing to lose. And the only person that matters was too wrapped up in his new life to see it.
Back at the hospital, this Halloween was proving to be difficult. There was an eight year old boy that came experiencing hallucinations. Lucas thought everyone was monsters. He tried to run away from school. He attacked his teacher when she tried to stop him. The teacher doesn’t know what went wrong. Lucas hasn’t been himself for the past two days. He’s been in foster care since he was six. He lived with his current foster parents for over a year and the teacher doesn’t think there’s anything wrong.
Not that she would know. She said Lucas was a pretty easygoing child because he never complains. There could be something wrong and he wouldn’t say. He’s just not that type of child. Lucas calling everyone monsters though had sounded like schizophrenia. It’s not typically found in kids so young. Dr. Charles was called in. He was going to be watching Lucas. Dr. Ripley was treating Lucas’s injuries. He hit the pavement when he tried to run away. Lucas didn’t want to be looked at because again he thought everyone was monsters.
Then there was the curse. Three people have died in one of the rooms. The nurses were talking about it and they all thought that room was cursed. They didn’t want to put patients in there. Still, it was bound to be used. They couldn’t let Halloween trick them into believing there was a curse. They were a hospital and they have very real problems to deal with. Like the college student. There was a young college student that came in after her roommate claimed she was dealing with some bed cramps.
It hadn’t been cramps. This student’s name is Jenny. Jenny gave birth to a baby. Dr. Asher could tell because she saw the umbilical cord and she knew that the baby had been full-term based on that cord. Now, where was the baby? The woman wasn’t talking. She didn’t acknowledged she was ever pregnant much less gave birth. She wasn’t talking. They needed to know if the baby was alive. Asher brought this case up to Sharon. Sharon had no choice in the matter. She had to inform CPD about the situation.
Jenny later started to hemorrhage. She had to be moved to surgery. She finally admitted what she did with the baby before she was taken upstairs. She said she buried her. There was no telling if the baby was born alive or dead. Jenny could have killed the child herself. Or she could have buried the child alive. Who knows because Jenny took forever to tell them what happened. The cops were given the information. They checked Jenny’s movements until they found the burial site. The baby was dead. It was stillborn. She died weeks earlier in utero. This wasn’t Jenny’s fault.
Jenny was blaming herself and that’s why she didn’t say anything sooner.
Lucas’s situation meanwhile finally got a name. He suffered from a condition known as PMO. Or nicknamed demon face syndrome. Lucas has been suffering from migraines and not getting enough sleep the past few days. He hadn’t been abused. His foster parents were actually pretty good people. They were hoping to adopt him and they might not get to because his biological parents are aiming to regain custody. The bio parents were addicts. Its why Lucas was put in care and now that he found a home – his bio parents are claiming that they are clean now and want him back.
With Lucas being potentially sick, the foster parents weren’t sure if they could make decisions in his care. They could start him in treatment and then his bio parents could reverse decision if they win. The one suffering here was Lucas. It turns out Lucas’s PMO was triggered by his anxiety. He knew about the pending custody battle. He didn’t want to go back to his bio parents. They abused him. They starved him. It’s why he was such a good kid. He doesn’t want to upset anyone in case it leads to more abuse. Luckily, his testimony would stop his bio parents from getting custody.
Dr. Charles also solved the PMO. He didn’t really tell anyone at work, but he turned sixty-five that day. His friends remembered him. All except for Sharon. Sharon had a rough morning with Bert. He was turning to anger. He’s never raised his voice towards her during the years of their marriage. He was yelling now that he was sick. And Charles didn’t want her to feel bad about forgetting his birthday.
Charles was with Sharon when she eventually got the call that Bert suffered another fall.
Kip also made sure that he picked up his sister from the hospital. It was the only way she would finally get to meet Gemma. Kip changed his mind about proposing because its only been two months and he didn’t want to creep her out. He still wanted to introduce her to Gemma. He also finally started to suspect that something was wrong.
And making pregnancy decisions with Dr. Archer has Dr. Asher being really testy right now.
