In tonight’s Law & Order SVU episode, a school bus was hit by a car. There were no serious injuries at first. It was one of the kids that began bleeding and it was determined that she was having a miscarriage. She was rushed to the hospital. She lost a lot of blood. She might even lose one of her fallopian tubes.
Penny Wilson was her name. She was thirteen. Her parents didn’t know she was pregnant. They didn’t know she was sexually active. She was quite young for that and that’s why the hospital called in SVU Detectives. They weren’t sure what was happening at Penny’s home. Or if it was safe enough for her to return there once she was released.
Captain Benson had once again fobbed off Chief Tynan on accepting a desk job. She was sticking to the field. It’s where she best serves the victims. This meant Penny as well. Penny never mentioned boys much less a boyfriend to her parents. Still, her father’s DNA was being run against the fetus in case he was both father and grandfather.
Benson was called in because someone needed to take on the school. They didn’t want the negative attention. They said their board of trustees might take issue with allowing the cops around the students and faculty.
Only Benson said she could come back with a warrant. The school wouldn’t look good then. Benson and Curry checked Penny’s locker. They ran into a girl who was somewhat friends with her. She said that a bunch of boys were sharing photos of Penny around the school. The cops got access to the photos.
It appeared to be child porn of Penny with her teacher, David Huxley. There were some that wanted to rush in. They wanted to arrest Huxley. Benson said first they had to build a case. They showed the photos to Penny’s parents. They asked the parents about her relationship with the teacher.
Penny just got to that school. She was having a hard time making friends. She liked Huxley. He was her favorite teacher. Her parents knew that and that’s why they signed her up for private sessions. She also attended the after-school rock band. There was just one problem with those photos – they were fake. They brought in Huxley.
They questioned him and he completely denied. No matter how much Griff went at him. Griff was still new to SVU. He doesn’t like seeing kids get hurt and he was having a hard time controlling his temper.
Sometimes that came in handy. It did down the line. It happened after Penny woke up. Penny didn’t know she was pregnant. Nor did her teacher ever touch her. Penny said that the father was Bryce Cole. He was a couple of years older than her. He was another student at the academy.
They dated and she broke it off because she realized it was too much for her. Bryce then became a great suspect in distribution of child porn. It didn’t matter that the photos were fake. It was still child porn that was shared with other students.
Bryce didn’t care that Penny almost died. Griff put genuine fear in him. So much so he admitted he has a new girlfriend named Hailey. She knew about his relationship with Penny. The two girls were friends. She was also jealous of her. She created the fake photos using NU/DAI. It helps create nude AI images.
The company was a small one. They were the fastest growing AI company. Hailey just needed to pay extra in order to make fake nudes of Penny. She included Huxley because he gave her a “C” recently. She had dreams of Yale and she thought taking him down would better her grade.
Hailey got arrested for what she did. Her boyfriend told them everything so that he wouldn’t be charged. By then, Hailey had unfortunately kicked off things at school.
The kids were now making fake nudes of their rivals and their supposed friends. Griff was drowned by it all. He asked Benson how could they stop this? It’s not like they can arrest every kid who dared to do it. His words gave her an idea. Benson went to ADAs Carisi and the new girl, CJ. She asked them if they could take the AI companies to court for the distribution of child porn.
It helps that it already led to one murder on the original “Law & Order”. These things cause real harm. Benson even had Griff use the site to show them he could do whatever he liked to any photo he could get. There was no filter beyond the paywall. The ADAs took this to District Attorney Baxter.
He agreed to go after the companies. They started first with NU/DAI. The creator was named Lucas Boone. He was later arrested. This case was taken to trial. Both Penny and Huxley testified. They were doxed after those photos started to get shared.
Huxley was called a pedophile. Perverts were contacting Penny for dates. They both deleted their socials. They had to leave the school. Their lives were ruined by NU/DAI. Not that Boone cared. He said that if someone makes an offensive picture, you don’t arrest the paintbrush.
He had it in terms of service that kids shouldn’t be accessing it. He said parents should have been paying better attention to their kids online movement. He was making a good case until CJ ended up finding out that he didn’t start the company by himself. He started it with Samit Junger.
Samit warned him that what happened with the child pornography could happen. Rather than stop it, Boone fired him and then leaned into those fears to get richer.
The jury later found him guilty based on Samit’s testimony. Then the judge set the verdict aside because their current laws don’t match up with the ones that Carisi wanted to enforce.
But best believe that Boone was about to be sued out of all his money.
