In tonight’s Law & Order SVU episode, Curry was in Orlando for her son’s basketball tournament. The unit needed another body and they were glad to welcome back Finn. Finn was cleared of any wrongdoing. He was back at work now. He arrived just in time for the new case.
Some cops walked in with Leah Henning. She was accused of stabbing a man, but she claimed she was a rape victim and that he assaulted her. The man she stabbed was Stuart Morgan. He was the husband of the famous Claire Morgan. His wife was a writer and she was very popular. Her books were constantly best sellers. Claire’s writing touched a lot of women.
It even helped Leah once. It got her away from her family. Claire’s writing saved her life. It’s why she met Claire and eventually became her assistant. She lived in their house. She kept Claire’s schedule. She did her job. She did it a little too well because even Captain Benson gets the sense she was obsessed with Claire.
She just didn’t doubt her story. Leah said Claire wasn’t home one day. Stuart attacked her and assaulted her. The man hasn’t worked in ten years. Not since his wife became a popular author. He was always at home.
Stuart does all the prep work for Claire. He was even setting up books at a book signing on the night that Leah stabbed him. Only Leah wasn’t lying.
The couple had a personal chef. The chef was named Nicole Sandoval. Nicole saw a concerning incident between Stuart and Leah. She never mentioned anything to Claire. She got fired the day after she saw Stuart with a bruised Leah in just her underwear. She texted her boyfriend right after she witnessed that moment. It was therefore corroborated evidence. Nicole also posed the idea that she felt like Claire had to have known.
Claire was a feminist author. She was all about finding your hidden power. Rollins reads her books and she said her writing felt personal. It welcomes someone in. She could see why Leah became a super fan. It just doesn’t help that the Morgans took out a restraining order against Leah.
Stuart assaulted her, fired her, and then took out a restraining order against her all without his wife ever questioning his version of events? It didn’t seem plausible that Claire never knew the truth. Or that Leah was the only victim.
Claire had a string of personal assistants. They never stayed long. Stuart was the problem with all of them. He let his wife keep the limelight in return he gets to rape her fans and the women she was supposed to be helping. That’s the thing about her assistants. They were all fans.
They were in troubled situations that Claire helped them get out of. They were vulnerable and Claire and her husband used that against them. They found one former assistant in Queens. She said Stuart broke her collarbone when he raped her that first time. It ended up happening more than once.
The same could be said of Leah. Leah wasn’t well. She was suffering from trauma. Carisi helped her get a lawyer and that lawyer wanted the attempted murder charge to go away before Leah cooperated with nailing Stuart for rape.
Both Benson as well as Carisi had a sit-down meeting with the District Attorney. They got him to drop the attempted murder charge. They determined that Stuart was the bigger threat. He and his wife both needed their day in court. Claire knew about the things he did. The victims all tried to tell her. She just didn’t want to hear it.
Even Leah came to see that Claire knew about her own situation. She was once covered in bruises. She wore a tank top so that Claire could see them and ask about them. Only she never did. She ignored Leah until the bruises went away.
Leah also tried to tell her with words and she got fired the next day. Leah who idolizes Claire tried to protect her in all of this. She kept the other woman’s troubling behavior to herself until she learned she wasn’t alone. They were other victims. Stuart didn’t want to go head to head with all of them so he pled guilty after he was arrested.
Stuart also made a statement at his hearing in which he claimed his wife never knew the truth. It was a lie. One they cooked up together to protect her brand. Claire distanced herself from him the moment she could and Benson wasn’t happy.
The captain of SVU knew she was just as guilty. The whole unit wanted to get her for conspiracy to commit rape. They found the man who wrote Claire’s biography. He recorded over a thousand hours of Claire in her home and with her friends. He gave those tapes to the cops.
Everyone was weary of Stuart.
The biographer kept recording after Claire asked him to stop. He got an intimate moment between her and her husband in which she told Stuart to stop eyeing one woman because she wasn’t for him. Yes, she understood he needed an outlet to expel all that energy.
She found one for him and he stays away from the other one. It turns out the one she found for him was Leah because this was recorded back in 2022 right before she hired Leah. It was also evidence of a conspiracy and so Claire was arrested for the part she played in several assaults.
Claire’s fans all stood by her. The sad part was that Leah was one of her biggest fans until she became her assistant. Leah testified against Claire.
Claire also testified and Carisi chewed her up and spat her out. Claire was later found guilty of two counts of conspiracy to commit rape. She tried to make a statement to her fans only none of them cared to hear her out. They stopped believing in her.
THE END!
