“Victoria’s oyster date turns chaotic. Monica reveals a secret to her first date that could shatter their connection. Amber debates giving Keavan a second chance. Harold’s feline phobia leads to a disastrous first date at a cat-themed art café.”

On tonight’s Match Me Abroad episode, these matchmakers do want a happy ending for their clients. They want them to find love, get married, and live happily ever after in whatever way they deem fit. It’s often the clients that get in their own way. Take Victoria. Victoria was eclectic. She was a happy person.
Her issue was that she couldn’t decide on anything and that’s how she became known as eclectic. She’s been on so many first dates that haven’t gone anywhere that she still doesn’t know what she’s looking for. She was told to make a list of what she wanted in a man and she had to run it past her friends because she didn’t trust her own judgement. And what remained of her judgement in this regard was mostly superficial.
Victoria knows what the dream guy should look like. How tall he should be. She came to Ireland for the accent as well as a connection to her late father. Her father’s side was Irish.
He was also rustic and Victoria wanted that in a partner too. The great thing about her matchmaker was the fact that Katerina picked up on the similarities between the dream man and Victoria’s father. She came right out to tell Victoria of the similarities. Victoria was looking for someone that would see her and make her feel safe again. Like either her father did or she wanted him to do.
Victoria wanted stability. She just didn’t know how to achieve it. Katerina came up with a plan to reset Victoria. She knew what Victoria needed. She then introduced Victoria to the opposite of all of that just so that Victoria could see the difference.
Victoria needed to meet a bad buy in order to recognize a good one. The matchmaker was deliberately making the date with the bad boy as Harold was enjoying an art class date. He was on a date with a nice woman. It sadly was not going to go anywhere.
His date does teacher training. She wants young people to become interested in STEM. She loves cats and that’s where she butts heads with Harold. They attended an art class together.
It has cats roaming all around. Harold’s date loves cats. She was glad to feed them and cuddle them. Harrold was hesitant around them. He said he had a friend that got bit on the finger and it got infected. There was nerve damage. There was even black veins going up the arm. It made Harrold justifiably weary of cats ever since.
Harrold couldn’t bring himself to feed the cats. He wanted some distance from them. His date picked up on it and she began to disengage. By disengaging, she focused on the art. She let the conversation die out. Harrold’s not that great with social ques and he still picked up on the date going south.
He tried to reverse course. He remembered they were going out to a bar after the class. He hung everything on that drink and hoped that would somehow save the date. Monica meanwhile was having a blast in Brazil.
Her matchmaker put her together with Bernardo. Luiza knew that Monica was interested in Bruno and that the two have been talking online. Only she still went ahead with setting Monica up with someone else just to see her options. There were plenty of gorgeous men in Brazil after all.
Monica found her date to be one of them. He invited some buddies to a two on two volleyball match. The guys all took off their shirts. Monica loved it. She thought they were all hot and she was flirty. She was happy.
Until the date mentioned he wants kids. He doesn’t have kids now. He was forty and he was ready to start a family. It’s where he is at this point in life. It’s also not where Monica wants to meet him.
Monica was done with having kids. She has an adult daughter. She doesn’t want more kids. Or to go through the school run all over again. She just didn’t know how to break that to Bernardo. She had to eventually because no kids was a firm boundary she won’t be crossing and so her date was bound for an unhappy ending.
Harrold date came to an unhappy end as well. He was quick to want to hold hands. He just didn’t make sure his hands were dry before he did so. They were clammy and wet. It was a bit of a downer. It was so bad that both sides said there was no spark. They can be friends. They just couldn’t have a second date.
Then there was Amber. Amber was another American in Ireland. She went on one date with a nice guy and the downside was that he lives with his parents. Amber was afraid that meant he was broke.
Amber needed someone with financial stability because she didn’t want to be anyone sugar mama. Katerina later assured her that her date was too much of a hard worker to be broke.
It’s not a part of their culture over there. She also wanted to set Amber up on another date with someone else. Amber has been engaged three times because she often finds herself in a relationship after a week.
Dating multiple men will help her navigate what she wants. It will also make her certain of her choice at the end. She might choose one of the guys. She might choose none of the guys. Amber failed engagements show that she’s giving maximum effort and its not going anywhere.
And Victoria met Dave. Dave’s nickname is Mr. Danger because he’s so unpredictable. His car horn alone made her cringe. She didn’t want to hold one bad mark against him and so the other marks wracked up till she was ready to run from him rather than to him. The last red flag being him putting hot sauce in his eye!
