On Sunday, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) from General Hospital (GH) hosted Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) from NBC’s Days of Our Lives (DOOL). They kicked off the State of Mind podcast by talking about Steve Burton. Of course, he’s known for his role as Jason Morgan on ABC. Surprisingly, Maurice trolled Steve. Read on to find out what’s going on.
Steve & Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger was the governor of California, but he also acted. Probably, you remember him from Conan the Barbarian, Terminator, and Predator. The Austrian-born bodybuilder won Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia multiple times. Well, Maurice trolled Steve Burton, saying that he wants to be Arnold.
It was Galen who started talking about Burton, but shockingly, Maurice said, “I’d rather not talk about him,’ adding, “he’s kind of…he thinks he’s Arnold Schwarzenegger and…I tell him all the time that he’s not.”
The real-life Sonny Corinthos told Galen that Steve’s “so big and all he does is work out and eat that it’s almost like, ‘Enough, Steve!”
Continuing his diss, Maurice Benard asked, “How much bigger do you want to get? You’re an actor, we’re not bodybuilding here, right?’ Okay, ‘So how much bigger do you want to get?’ And then look in the mirror and say, ‘I need to get bigger.'”
Trolling A Fellow Actor?
Are you feeling a bit shocked? What is going on with the two GH actors? Maurice reaches out to help people with mental health, and Steve is known for helping those who want toimprove their well-being and physical health. Even Galen looked ready to diss Jason.
He told Maurice, “I am going to say yeah, you might be right…” Huh? So there you have it, folks. Rafe Hernandez from DOOL was also trolling Jason Morgan alongside Sonny Corinthos?
Nevertheless, don’t stress too much because both men were just dissing on Steve Burton because they wanted to make a point together. Both of them get along just fine with Steve. Galen then changed his tune, adding that he wouldn’t “judge” Steve for his ambition to be Arnold 2.0
In Defense of Burton
Galen said that when he met Steve, he hadn’t expected him to be the way he was. He explained:
We worked together briefly at Days…and he surprised me. When I say that, I mean, you know, you have a preconceived notion of what someone’s going to be. [But] he was completely the opposite of that, and we had many great talks and fun times.
Schwarzenegger 2.0 or not, it seems that Galen Gering got along with Steve very well.
Finally, Maurice agreed that he “is a great guy.” Growing a bit emotional, the ABC star told the Days of our Lives actor, “I’ve known him for 30 years, yeah. He did something for me about eight, nine months ago that I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.”
Galen chipped in and spoke about how Steve’s a “good and deep” person. And then Maurice agreed that he is. The trolling was merely a way to let people know that they should never judge a book by its cover.
