Why was Jimmy’s daughter assisting NCIS? Her father was their medical examiner. The agents were her honorary aunts and uncle, but Victoria wasn’t the type to call her uncles when she’s in trouble. She would normally call her dad. Jimmy was a great dad. He was loving. He doesn’t judge.
Victoria could have turned to him when she found thirty-five thousand dollars behind the library. There were other kids that would have pocketed that money. Or used it for social media clout. Victoria displayed great maturity when she called Special Agent Torres about the money and handed it over to him.
Victoria also told him that she was going to tell her father about what happened. Only she never did. Victoria had several chances to come clean with her dad. She ignored all of them. Torres didn’t realize it until Knight noticed that Jimmy wasn’t pestering them for updates or if his daughter was safe.
Jimmy was again a very involved father. The whole team knew he’d panic when he heard what his daughter found. She found a lot of money and there were bound to be people looking for it.
Torres brought the money to Kasie so that she could do her magic. She later learned the money was from a bank robbery at the Saratoga Springs Bank.
The robbery was fifteen years ago. They never caught the man that did it. It led to the press calling him the Saratoga Specter. Like a ghost because he disappeared so easily. The specter didn’t even do other jobs. He robbed the one bank and he retired off the millions.
Kasie actually found a print on the money that Victoria found. It belonged to Carson Marcone. He was originally from Saratoga. She assumed he was the specter. NCIS went to Carson’s home. They found him murdered in his crappy apartment. He wasn’t living the high life. He also wasn’t the specter.
From what they could tell, Carson stumbled across the real specter. He got killed for it. The only question that NCIS had was why did he dump the money behind a library of all places? It turns out Victoria had lied about where she found the money. They checked the library’s surveillance cameras.
Victoria was never at the library. She was hanging out with her friends in the woods while lying to her dad about being at the library. Victoria committed a federal crime. She was sneaking off. She also wasn’t doing the science fair this year. Victoria was being a teenager. She was acting out.
Jimmy took it so hard because he didn’t know what to do with her. His wife died. He wasn’t dating anyone and, while he thought he could be everything his daughter needed, he wasn’t prepared to handle a teenage girl.
Jimmy later asked Victoria why she called Torres before she called him. Victoria’s reply to that was kinda brutal. She said Torres was a federal agent. Her father on the other hand was just a medical examiner. Victoria doesn’t see that he solves cases too. Her comment really hurt Jimmy. It’s also why he involved himself in this case.
Victoria found that money in the woods behind their gated community. The community was called Briarwood. The specter was apparently one of Jimmy’s neighbors. Carson was the maintenance man.
There’s no telling if he found the money or the specter first. Either way, he still tried to come away with some cash of his own. He got the money and NCIS assumed the specter killed him.
The specter doesn’t know that the feds have over thirty grand of his money. The thief was going to keep looking and Jimmy didn’t want his daughter falling victim to him.
NCIS came up with a plan to finding the specter. They knew he was a neighbor. The only thing they had to do was send Jimmy in undercover as himself. Jimmy threw a huge party for all the neighbors. He was so worried about collecting DNA evidence that he didn’t realize one woman was flirting with him.
He collected the cups of all the men from the neighborhood. None of them were a match for the hair they found in the bank vault in Saratoga. Kasie did get a partial map from the bag of unmarked cups. It showed that the specter was at that party. And the team believed that maybe the specter wasn’t a man.
There was that woman that flirted with Jimmy. She claimed she moved in two weeks ago. The truth was that she bought that house fifteen years ago in all cash and she made sure to stay behind with Jimmy after the party was over.
She probably heard that Jimmy worked for NCIS. There was no telling if she was going to hurt him and so NCIS rushed to his place to save him. They were a little overzealous because Wendy Hill wasn’t a danger to Jimmy. She also wasn’t the specter. She was the specter’s daughter.
Her father came clean to her on his deathbed. Wendy thought he was just the illness talking, but her father did buy the house in her name so that she’d have a nice nest egg. Wendy also mentioned that Carson has been by her house several times over the past two weeks.
The security guard tried to erase that in the log book and Kasie found it again. The security guard was the one working with Carson. He hid the money. They were supposed to split later and that plan changed when Rhonda got greedy.
Rhonda the security guard was spying on the residents using the community app. She was looking for the money. She killed Carson because she didn’t want to share and she used the app because wanted to know if anyone came across the money. Well, NCIS created a trap for her using that app.
They lured her right in. She went looking for the money. Rhonda walked right into an arrest. She was arrested for murder and, on the downside, Wendy didn’t seem as keen on Jimmy as she did before. Only he did get some quality time with his daughter.
