In tonight’s S.W.A.T. episodeDeputy Chief Bennett was back at SWAT headquarters. She was married to Warden Bennett. Her husband lost his job for mishandling a prison riot and him getting fired was because of Hicks.
Hicks spoke out against him. He told the truth before a hearing about what happened during the riot. Well, now the Deputy Chief said she’s telling the truth when she accused one of his officers of being on the take.
Officer Gamble was still involved with her family. Her family were all crooks. Her father was serving a life sentence for killing a cop. Her brothers were being investigated by the LAPD Cargo Theft Unit. And somehow her brothers managed to evade capture.
The cops had a sting operation in place. They were about to capture her brothers and some cousins committing a crime when suddenly the stolen cargo disappeared. It was as if they were warned. Naturally, Officer Gamble was the chief suspect. The police looking into her family had assistance from SWAT.
The operation itself was posted on SWAT bulletin board. Gamble knew about it. She also has a vested interest in protecting her family. Bennett wanted to take her down. Hicks wasn’t going to let that happen. He spoke up for his officer. He doesn’t believe Gamble was the leak.
They also had bigger things to worry about. There was a six year old girl that was grabbed from her front yard. She and her mom were about to leave when mom realized she left something behind.
She ran inside for less than a minute. She came out to hear her daughter scream from the backseat of a car as the kidnapper drove off with her. The little girl’s name is Gracie Walz. She couldn’t have been taken by her father. Her father died six months ago from a tumor. He was a cop and so Gracie’s case was personal for SWAT.
Gracie didn’t have much family besides her mom. This couldn’t have been a familial kidnapping. Which made it worse. Gracie getting kidnapped by a stranger lowers her life expectancy.
The odds were that she’d be killed in the first three hours. The team worked to find her before they ran out of that time. They identified the car that took her. The person who owns the car was supposedly out of town. His neighbor was watching his cat and there was something off about the neighbor. Powell suspected him from the start.
The neighbor never once questioned why the cops were looking for the car. Most people would be curious. This guy wasn’t and Powell thought she heard muffling from inside his house. It turned out to be his dog, but the guy just bought groceries.
Not just any groceries. He bought all of the things that Gracie loves. Gracie loves peanut butter and banana sandwiches. She also only drinks strawberry milk because her dad told her that’s what princesses drink. Their suspect bought all of those items. It couldn’t have been a coincidence.
They arrested Stephen Owens the weird neighbor. He quickly lawyered up. His lawyer proved to be Deacon’s wife, Annie. Annie poked several holes through their case with Owens. The cops were forced to release him. They still watched him though.
They had people following him all day and unfortunately they found out he wasn’t doing this alone. Owens didn’t have family photos. He had landscape photos. The photos were from one guy. The guy being Denton Pryor. Pryor paid Owens with photos. Owens was an accountant. They also shared the same interest.
Pryor was arrested in a different state for an inappropriate relationship with a child. He pled guilty to a lesser charge. He served his probation and then he left town. He came to LA. He met Owens. The two of them shared photos and not just of buildings.
Pryor took school photos. He kept several school photos of little girls and he has a trophy wall at his studio. The cops checked for the girls on the trophy wall. They were all abducted. None of them have been seen since. The first girl was taken back in 2018 and the other girls were taken eighteen months later from each other.
There men were serial killers. They’ve been doing this for a while. Gracie was the latest girl. Pryor has her somewhere. He’s merely waiting for Owens to catch up and Owens couldn’t go straight to meet him. He had to ditch the cops watching him.
He jumped a back fence. He messaged Annie from a second phone. The second phone was traced back to the train station. Owens was trying to make a run for it. He was going to leave Pryor on his own. He didn’t know that Powell figured out where Pryor could be hiding the girl.
Powell remembered the farmhouse photos that both men were obsessed with. They were obsessed with that farmhouse because that was their special place. Powell found its location. Hicks gave her leave to take Tan with her. The two of them found the farmhouse.
They found Gracie. Gracie was shackled to a bed. Tan left to go get bolt cutters from the truck. Only it wasn’t necessary. Powell found something nearby to free the girl and she was leaving with her when Pryor found them. Pryor pulled a gun on them.
Powell was carrying Gracie. She didn’t have a free shot. She put Gracie down. She created a distraction and she fought with Pryor over the gun. Powell ultimately killed him when she got a free. Without Pryor, it was just Owens alive to tell the full story.
Owens was arrested at the train station. He was willing to talk as long as he doesn’t get extradited back to Arizona. Arizona carries a death penalty and he and his buddy killed a child there.
Gracie was thankfully returned to her mom. The men didn’t have enough time to harm her. The cops also closed several missing kids cases, but Gamble was going to be suspended pending investigation. Bennett was coming after her with everything she has.
THE END!
