In tonight’s The Rookie episode, Lucy was promoted to Sergeant recently. There was a position open at her station. It was just on the night shift and so Lucy tried to step up to task, but her squad was problematic. They stopped taking calls. They didn’t respond to command from their superior officer.

It turns out they park up for the night to catch up on sleep. They even left one guy awake to act as a lookout. Lucy only found out about it because she traced their locations with dispatch’s help. She thought something must have happened. She saw so many officers at one scene. She was afraid someone was injured.

Lucy went there. The lookout proved to suck even at that job. Lucy found everyone asleep and she realized why they were the “dream team”. They literally got paid to sleep.

They weren’t being cops. They weren’t help people. They were shirking from theor duties and it was Lucy’s job to get them back in line. She had to be someone she never thought she’d be. She had to be Tim. Tim was always tough. He was horrible to her that first year when he was her training officer. It also eased up once the two developed feelings for each other.

They broke up. It was for many reasons. It just happened to coincide to when Tim was demoted back to patrol. He became her superior. They couldn’t date no matter the circumstances after that.

Things were different now because they hold the same rank. They were both sergeants now. They can get back together if they want to and Lucy was still making up her mind on if she wants to. She loved Tim. She risked everything for him. She put herself out there and he rewarded that loyalty by breaking up with her.

It doesn’t matter that they’ve hooked up here or there. He’s still the guy that broke her heart. They were both feeling touchy about the situation. Lucy told Celina that they didn’t have to make a schedule for when their boyfriends were over because she wasn’t back together with Tim.

Tim also told his best friend that he was waiting for a sign from Lucy on whether or not she forgave him. Tim was worrying and now wasn’t the time for the rookie to make a smart remark. Miles has been with the same woman since high school. They broke up too. He was now trying to date for the first time.

Miles needed help understanding the dating apps. He wasn’t looking for an open relationship. He just didn’t know if he wanted it to be short-term or long-term. Tim tried to warn him against those. He told him not to mention he was a cop. He either run into women that hated him or women that were too eager to date him.

Miles still tried to get excited about this new stage of his life. There was a woman named Rina that showed interest. Miles showed Tim a photo of her and Tim said he was probably from twenty years ago. And so that’s when Miles said he could see why Lucy couldn’t take him for long.

Tim completely lost it on the rookie. He reinforced that he was his TO. Not his friend. His boss. He was in charge of Miles failing or passing his training. Miles apologized for what he said in the heat of the moment. He also tried to make it up to Tim. He got his favorite drink. He picked up the packet of nuts that he likes.

He was focusing on food related items and got lucky when they were fortunately called to the scene of a bank robbery. They arrested the guy that did it. He said that he had to do it. His girlfriend was dying of cancer and she needed money for surgery.

Their bank robber was catfished. His girlfriend lived in Bulgaria. They never met in real life. She messages him on social media. They fell in love. It wasn’t long before she came up with a fake condition.

She sent him fake photos of herself in the hospital. Jullius fell for it. He failed to see it was AI generated. He robbed the bank to pay for this new treatment his girlfriend needed in Switzerland. Only the cops showed him he had been catfished. They also informed his wife why they arrested him.

Angela felt bad for the wife. She advised her to file for divorce right away. She should also change the locks. Miles watched as Julius was disillusioned, but he still wanted to date again.

He reached out to Rina. He never got the chance to remove that he was a cop before Rina saw his page. She therefore lured him to a restaurant in the hopes of getting payback for the Eastern Front. The Aryan gang that were upset after their leadership all got arrested. They tried to assassinate a district attorney. And that’s why the cops came down on them like they did.

Only the Eastern Front didn’t learn their lesson. They were compounding their mistake by now targeting a cop. It just so happened that Rina was Eastern Front because her family was also in the gang.

It was her job to get Miles to the restaurant. Her brother was then going to show up with his friends. Miles accidentally figured out she was Eastern Front. He called Celina to run her background in case he was wrong. He wasn’t wrong. Celina told him as much. He got out of there before he got killed. He hopped into the car he commandeered.

The gang chased after him. Lucy was alerted by Celina about the situation. She called Miles. She also called her squad. They weren’t asleep this time. They showed up and they rescued Miles together. There was hope for them yet. Nolan missed out on the major bust because he was in Las Vegas. Nyla Harper went with him.

The two of them were following up a lead on Oscar’s whereabouts. Oscar took part in stealing millions in jewels right before he was sent to prison. He was working in a crew with two others at the time. They got arrested soon after they hid their goldmine.

Oscar didn’t take part in hiding it. So, when he broke out of prison, he needed to know where the valuables were. He reached out to his old friends. They were released. Oscar would have been released too if he hadn’t tried to kill so many people. He tortured and then killed his supposed friends.

He also kidnapped Nolan because he needed help. Oscar spent most of his adult life in prison. He had no idea how to work a phone. He cut off his buddy’s hand because there was a map on it. And he didn’t know that he could take a picture with his phone.

Oscar needed help figuring out the map. Nolan was experienced. Nolan helped him find the diamonds. Harper then found them. She used a teenager’s drone to spot Nolan. They even used the drone to knock out Oscar before he could kill Nolan now that he no longer needs him, but Oscar had an escape plan.

His chopper showed up the same time Harper reached them. Oscar still escaped. He just did it empty-handed. Nolan still had the diamonds. The chopper was eventually found. The men that operated were dead. Oscar killed them now that he couldn’t pay for the rescue.

Lucy reconsidered dating again. Miles showed her that staying single for a while wasn’t bad. He learned his lesson the hard one. Lucy didn’t want to do the same. She invited Tim over for dinner.

They talked. Tim apologized for what he did. He admitted he was now in therapy. Lucy missed most of it because she fell asleep after being awake most nights. Tim was going to have to try again.

It was also in fact Julius’s wife that catfished him. Heidi wanted out. They didn’t have much money. She was at home with two toddlers and so she catfished him as a means of securing her divorce settlement.

She never thought he’d rob a bank. She assumed he’d empty their accounts. She couldn’t believe for a fake person that he was willing do anything for Boyanna. And not for his real family.

And Monica was back stateside after getting an immunity from the United States government.

THE END!
