The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers indicate that Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) wants Chelsea and Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) breakup, so the Y&R star just revealed the reason why.
In an interview with Woman’s World, Egan opened up about her on-screen romance and how important it’s been for her character.
There’s no denying that Adam has been a huge part of Chelsea’s life.
“Adam was her first love interest, so the whole Chadam connection has been imperative to my 14 years on the show, but this time feels different,” Egan said.
Since Adam and Chelsea have overcome so many obstacles to reach the good place they’re in now, Melissa Claire Egan suggested their relationship is perhaps stronger than ever.
Chelsea and Adam’s romance is going quite well, but that doesn’t mean Egan’s rooting for them to live a drama-free life together.
In fact, Egan confessed that she’s hoping the characters split up sooner or later.
The reason why is simple: because it’ll give Egan some great material to play!
“Eventually I want them to break up, but not because I don’t love it…Because it’s so fun having someone wrong you on this show or when you do something wrong. When you’re unhappy, you get the scoop!” Egan insisted.
As for why Adam and Chelsea might be torn apart, Egan pointed to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) issues and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) tension as two paths to more relationship problems.
Since Billy saved Chelsea’s life and still got cheated on, she’s always going to feel a bit protective of him.
Chelsea also doesn’t like when Adam is Victor’s puppet, so Y&R could exploit these weaknesses when a breakup inevitably happens down the road.
That said, Melissa Claire Egan sang Mark Grossman’s praises and assured fans that she still wants Adam and Chelsea to be “end game.”
It’s just that most soap actors don’t want to stay in a blissful bubble very long when juicy drama’s waiting on the other side.
