The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Monday, May 12, reveals that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will spy to score Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) secret while Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) cries in Daniel Romalotti Jr.’s (Michael Graziadei) arms.
In the park, Tessa will track down Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and call her out for being so distant lately.
Mariah will eventually admit the change in her behavior relates to Ian Ward (Ray Wise), so she’ll talk about her guilt over his return to town.
Although Mariah will feel like she should’ve seen who Ian really was to begin with, Tessa won’t think Mariah should blame herself.
Tessa will assume Mariah can’t forgive her for pushing her to give Ian another chance, so she’ll suggest therapy and beg for a way to move past this.
Mariah will ultimately insist Tessa isn’t the one who needs forgiveness, so Tessa will realize Mariah has something to confess instead.
Despite Tessa’s insistence that they can get through anything together, Mariah will just say she’s sorry before running off.
At Crimson Lights, Phyllis will give Daniel updates on her decision to put Abbott Communications in the rearview mirror – though she’ll complain about Billy replacing her with underqualified Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).
When Billy inevitably comes crawling back, Phyllis will assure Daniel that she’s going to stand her ground.
Phyllis will want to create a new empire with Daniel instead and will act like it could be a fun project to figure out together.
Daniel will realize Phyllis isn’t going to let this go, so he’ll urge her to figure out something that inspires her.
If Phyllis brings it to Daniel and it sparks for him as well, he’ll be willing to consider it.
Phyllis will make a prediction about rising to the challenge and will seem pleased over Daniel potentially caving in.
Later, Daniel will find Tessa looking upset in the park after getting shut out by Mariah.
When Daniel sees that something’s wrong, Tessa will end up crying as he pulls her into a hug.
Next on Monday’s Y&R episode, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) will try to convince Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) that they should spend time with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) in relaxed situations like family gatherings, birthday celebrations and maybe a picnic with Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell).
Although Claire will feel like they need to be a team and show Victor how happy they are, Kyle won’t think that’s going to work.
Claire will seem frustrated over Kyle’s pessimism, but he’ll be just as exasperated over her need for Victor’s approval.
However, Claire will talk about admiring Victor’s story of coming from an orphanage and building this loving family.
It’ll mean a lot to Claire that Victor accepted her as part of the Newman clan.
Claire will also bring up Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) suggestion about slowing things down while they try to get Victor on board.
Kyle won’t be happy about that either, but he’ll assure Claire that he’d do anything for her in the end.
At Society, Billy will tell Sally about his tense conversation with Victor, who tossed threats around and tipped his hand about being rattled over Aristotle Dumas.
After Billy admits his potential deal with Dumas was about Chancellor, he’ll have a new plan that’ll keep his hands clean.
Billy will want to put Dumas and Victor against each other from a safe distance.
That way, Billy can sit back with popcorn and watch the battle royale.
Once Billy indicates that he’s betting on Dumas to win, Sally will get him to confirm that he’s no longer obsessed with getting Chancellor back.
Sally won’t love Billy’s plan to fuel the flames of conflict for Dumas and Victor, especially since Dumas seems just as dangerous as his rival.
Nevertheless, Sally will decide she can live with the strategy and will give Billy a kiss.
Around the corner, Phyllis will eavesdrop on Billy’s plot to let Dumas take Victor down while he watches.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Phyllis will try to strike a deal with Victor for that info soon, so stay tuned for more news on their negotiation!
