The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) may have found herself a hot Italian boyfriend, so let’s talk about what this love life update means for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Claire Newman (Hayley Erin).
In the May 15 episode, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) spoke with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) about Summer finding a new creative director, who happens to be a male designer who’s “super hot.”
Phyllis gushed over Summer sharing multiple meals with this young Italian hunk and suggested her daughter needed a little “eat, pray, amore” in her life.
Nick agreed this could be a good distraction – though he warned that whoever this hotspot is better not be playing Summer.
Phyllis agreed and came a little unhinged as she showed off her protective side, but the point here is that Summer is currently hanging out with some handsome Italian guy in Milan.
There’s the potential for this off-screen hottie to become Summer’s new boyfriend, which would give her an excuse to be out of town more often.
Even if this new creative director makes the move to Genoa City, he presumably has family and friends he’ll want to visit back home.
Summer may start splitting her time between Milan and GC as a result.
Allison Lanier has departed the show, so Y&R will have to make excuses to keep her off-screen.
Having an Italian boyfriend to keep Summer busy would make sense and perhaps lead to more Italy trips with Harrison, too.
There may be times when Summer is in Genoa City as well and it’s just mentioned that she’s at the office or with Harrison somewhere else.
It’s not the ideal situation, but Y&R can find ways to make it work.
Whatever the case, Lanier’s exit and Summer’s potential new beau could be great news for Claire and Kyle.
The longer Kyle’s ex-wife stays out of the picture, the less likely it is Summer will pose any kind of threat to his relationship with Claire.
That’s good since Claire and Kyle have enough drama going on thanks to Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) disapproval and his breakup plot with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver)!
