In tonight’s Tracker episode, Colter Shaw found himself heading to Tacoma tonight. His old friend needed help. John Keaton was someone that truly came through for Colter. They caught a serial killer together and that case had been Colter’s white whale. It was now time to return the favor. Keaton’s old partner went missing.
They were retired cops. It’s been a few years since they’ve been partners, but Keaton knew something was wrong. Nat Dobbs said he had something run past Keaton. Keaton showed up at his house and Nat wasn’t there. He disappeared. Which was unusual in itself. It’s just that Nat has a history of dating the wrong women.
Nat supposedly liked the broken kind. The ones running from something. The type to empty his bank account and leave him hold up at a motel. Keaton was worried that Nat got into that same trouble again.
He asked Colter to check it out. They went to Nat’s home. Colter searched his trash. He found a news article of a dairy farmer who killed three days ago in a home evasion. There was nothing significant about the case. Keaton didn’t think anything of it when he saw the same article. He thought maybe Nat wasn’t as retired as he should be.
Its hard to turn that inner detective voice off. Keaton became a private investigator because his didn’t turn off either. Reenie was actually looking to hire Keaton and he was forced to turn down the job because Nat was onto something.
Randy found out that Nat turned off his tracker when he visited the dairy farm. Leading to Keaton and Colter travelling over there to see what the big deal was. The farmer that died had had his home ransacked of valuables. The local cops thought some junkies might have killed him while looking for cash.
Keaton even thought the same until Colter spotted something not in the article. It was dairy farm so why does the man have farming equipment with a giant machine.
The machine was used to dig up dirt. It turns out the harmless dairy farm was being used as a body dump. The farmer was getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars. He was merely pretending to run a farm for someone else and he might have stumbled into a gang war because of that association. The bodies dumped were all criminals. The land was owned by Armenian Crime Boss Zhan Menassian.
The men were forced to call the local cops when they found the bodies. The detective didn’t want that help afterwards. The Police Commissioner also called Keaton personally.
He claimed he wanted to see him and the truth was he wanted to warn him against pursuing the case. He was informed of an impending gang war. He didn’t want his friend involved. Keaton heard him, but he couldn’t follow his advice. Not when Nat was still missing. Keaton kept looking for him and whoever killed the farmer possibly killed his boss as well because Colter found Menassian dead.
Colter abducted the man’s nephew. Tried to call him to arrange a meet and when that didn’t work – he drove to Menassian’s location when he found the body. Menassian had security cameras. Colter sent them to Randy. Randy sent him back the video. It was Nat who killed Menassian.
He appeared to have been forced into it by a man Keaton recognized. His name is Emile Lang. He was a contract killer. He disappeared five years ago after he killed a cop. It was rumored he had been killed and unfortunately the man was still alive. And he wasn’t done killing cops.
Nat grabbed Menassian’s cell phone. He knew certain evidence would be on it. Lang must not have seen him grab it and so he got rid of Nat once he was done. Colter and Keaton found Nat dying by the river. Nat crashed the car. Both men were injured. Lang still shot him for good measure.
Nat lived long enough to talk to Keaton. He told him that it wasn’t the Russians. This might not be a gang war after all. Nat mentioned that Lang killed the farmer and there was footage to show he was behind Menassian’s death. That only leaves why?
Why was Lang doing any of this? Menassian was at war with the Russians. Lang wasn’t hired by them nor was he involved in the other stuff. Lang stole a car. He broke into a house.
He tied up the housekeeper while he executed the home owner. Lang was revealed to be looking for Cassie Lindstrom. For some reason, he suspected the people he killed and the ones he grabbed knew where she was. Keaton and Colter were hot on his trail. They made it to the house. Keaton saw Lang. He fired at him and he missed.
Lang got some shots off as well. He shot Keaton. Colter was too late to stop Lang from driving off. He was more focused on his friend. Keaton was in bad shape. Colter didn’t have cell signal and so he put Keaton in the back of the car. He was driving him to the hospital when someone shot at their car. It ran them off the road into a ravine.
There’s no telling what happened to Colter or Keaton and no one will find out until March.
THE END!
